Wyatt Russell Has No Interest in Replacing Father Kurt as Snake Plissken

Wyatt Russell has no interest in reprising the role of Snake Plissken from his famous father Kurt. From his debut in the MCU as John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter SoldierRussell has become a household name with millions of fans watching him on Disney + every week. Getting the part was also a wrapping up moment for Russell, who started his acting career with a failed audition for Steve Rogers’ version of Captain America.

Many fans will know that Wyatt russell is the son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, and it’s hard not to see the resemblance between father and son. This led some fans to call out young Russell to participate in the supposed reboot of Escape from New York as the new Slake Plissken, the eye-catching action hero originally played by Kurt. For his part, Wyatt does not know if anybody otherwise would convincingly play Snake Plissken, but one thing he knows is that it sure won’t be him.

In a recent interview with Squire, Wyatt was asked if he’d be interested in playing Snake Plissken in an Escape From New York reboot, and here’s what the actor had to say.

“While that’s very kind of you, it won’t happen. There won’t be a Snake reboot on my part, it’s like career suicide 101. It’s like what not to do. I don’t know if anyone else could be Snake Plissken. He’s a character that was created. Good luck, go get them, I sincerely wish you good luck. I just don’t know how it’s possible . For me, if I really wanted people to send me hate mail, I think that’s what I should do. I’ll never do anything like that. “

There have been rumors for years Escape from New York be redone, but the project can’t seem to get out of development hell. At one point, Robert Rodriguez was reportedly committed to directing a new take on the film with original director John Carpenter producing. In 2019, it was reported that The invisible Man Helmer Leigh Whannell would write the screenplay for a Escape from New York remake.

From now on the rumor Escape from New York the reboot is not officially under development. Going forward with a new actor in the iconic role of Snake Plissken seems very risky, given how bad Kurt Russell became with the party. Some fans were keen to see Wyatt in the role due to his physical similarities to his father, but even Wyatt seems pretty sure that idea wouldn’t work either.

Perhaps the best course of action would be to make a sequel rather than a remake. John Carpenter has publicly stated that he would love to work with Kurt Russell again for his next film project, and while that doesn’t seem very likely, it would be amazing to see the couple team up again for any kind of new. project, whether it is a new Escape from New York movie or whatever entirely.
