Animal Crossing fans who enjoy farming pumpkins and decorating their islands might like the new farming sim in the Story of Seasons series.
Building a unique town in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a great way to get creative. However, for those who are looking to try something new, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town could scratch the same itch. While Story of Seasons doesn’t focus as heavily on social mechanics, there are plenty of other similarities between Story of Seasons and Animal Crossing to keep simulation fans busy while enjoying nature and designing unique homes.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is a farming simulation game with social aspects. The player inherits a run-down farm and embarks on a journey to restore it to its former glory while meeting and befriending the local townsfolk. Instead of spending time paying off debts to the local money-grubbing raccoon, players team up with Olive Town’s Mayor to repair and upgrade various structures in town with the hopes of attracting traveling tourists to boost the economy.

There are many similarities between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town that make for satisfying gameplay. Collecting resources and crafting are primary daily activities in both titles. There are also home decorations to buy or build, as well as a large number of different outfits to collect. Both titles promote exploration, with Animal Crossing players traveling to Mystery Islands in search of special resources and items, and Story of Seasons using special locations unlocked throughout gameplay as a way to have new adventures.
Animal Crossing Fans May Enjoy Farming More Crops Than Pumpkins
Animal Crossing: New Horizons players who enjoyed farming pumpkins during the fall update, as well as the process of keeping flowers and fruit trees, could really enjoy Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. While Animal Crossing has limited farming options – with no clear updates coming for the feature in future months – Story of Seasons is primarily about farming. Players can raise numerous fruit trees, dozens of crops, and even care for a variety of livestock and chickens. It is also possible to keep up to four different pets, including many different breeds of cats and dogs.
A setback for Animal Crossing fans looking into Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town could be the lack of customization options for Olive Town itself. While New Horizons allows personal customization of the island a player lives on, Story of Seasons fans can only alter certain parts of Olive Town by completing the Mayor’s requests at the Town Hall. The farmstead is almost completely customizable, but the lack of personal design options in town could make Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town less appealing to island designers. Despite this, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans may want to give the new farming sim a chance, and embark on an exciting new farming adventure.
