It happens when you eat an excessive amount of a vitamin that is normally an important nutrient needed to keep the body healthy

Certain vitamins can have serious and life-threatening side effects. Therefore, they must be taken after proper recommendation by a doctor

If you consume too many water-soluble vitamins, your kidneys will eliminate them

They don't accumulate in your body and are excreted through urine. Toxicity arises only when you take high doses

Water-soluble vitamins include B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12 and C

However, your body cannot get rid of fat-soluble vitamins as they do not dissolve in water and are easily stored in your body's tissues

Vitamins A, D, E and K are the four fat-soluble vitamins
