​Summertime! Step-by-step guide to make curd at home

Making curd at home is easy and economical and ensures you get a fresh and wholesome product free from additives and preservatives.

1 liter of milk (whole or skimmed), 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt (store-bought or from a previous batch)

Heat the milk​

Pour the milk into a heavy-bottomed saucepan and heat it over medium heat until it reaches just ready to boil.

Allow it cool

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the milk to cool until it is lukewarm.

​Add Yogurt Starter​

In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt with a small amount of the lukewarm milk until smooth. Then, pour this mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of the milk and stir gently to combine.

​Incubate the Mixture​

Pour the milk mixture into a clean container with a lid, such as a glass jar or a plastic container. Cover the container tightly with the lid.

​Check for Set​

After the incubation period, gently tilt the container to check if the curd has set. It should be firm and jiggly, with whey separating from the curd.

​Chill and Serve​

Once the curd has set, transfer the container to the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 2 hours before serving. Your homemade curd is now ready to enjoy!
