3 underrated shows on Netflix you need to watch in October

With the calendar now reading October, a new generation of Netflix shows will populate the service and dominate the conversation. New shows coming this month include hip, Fall of the House of Usher, ballet dancerAnd Aristocrat class, These shows will probably feature in the list of most popular shows on Netflix. Last Chance U (2016-2020)

Netflix’s first Yiddish show, unconventionalbased on Unorthodox: Blatant Rejection of My Hasidic Roots, Deborah Feldman’s 2012 autobiography. The underrated drama follows Estee Shapiro (Shira Haas), a young Hasidic Jewish woman living in Brooklyn who is forced into an arranged marriage with Yankee Shapiro (Amit Rahav). Unhappy with her life, Etsy runs away from Brooklyn to Berlin, where her estranged mother lives. It’s a spiritual and cultural awakening for Etsy, as she comes to love life outside the ultra-Orthodox community. However, Yankee and his cousin, Moishe (Jeff Wilbush), travel to Berlin to find Etsy and bring him back to New York.

unconventional is a thoughtful, compelling series about a community that is rarely portrayed in the media and features a sensational performance from Haas. The series only has four episodes, meaning it can be completed in a short amount of time.

Maid (2021)

Alex Russell (Margaret Qualley), a young mother from a town near Seattle, suddenly leaves her abusive boyfriend (Nick Robinson) and brings her two-year-old daughter with her. With little money and no college degree, Alex becomes a maid to make ends meet. She eventually moves into subsidized housing and quickly learns the difficulties of understanding the rules of government assistance.
