The world reacts to the new sex and the reboot of the city

The long-awaited reboot of Sex and the City, “And just like that…”, has finally aired. The series reenters the world of Carrie Bradshaw and her group of friends as they navigate life in their 50s. Highly regarded for its fashion and distinctive style, the show was officially designed by costume designer Patricia Field. She styled Carrie in the iconic pink tutu, John Galliano’s newspaper dress for Christian Dior and many more.

In the first episodes, the actors wear pieces by Oscar De La Renta, Dries Van Noten and Manolo Blahnik. Costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago explained their thought process behind the style. “What we brought new was just to update it. Make it more modern. Working with new designers, new young designers, internationally,” Santiago said. “Through Instagram, we were able to find all these new people we could bring in. But again, sticking to what the girls already had in terms of their types of looks.”

Chanel’s Advent calendar goes viral

Chanel’s first Advent calendar has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. The Christmas present, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of Chanel No. 5, launched for $825 and featured a range of gifts and collectibles from the designer. Chanel billed the advent calendar as “a calendar like no other”, featuring 27 products, including “a full-size perfume or makeup product, a miniature or another surprise marked with Gabrielle’s lucky number. Chanel,” the website reads.

Customers who bought the pricey gift took to TikTok to share the treats inside, but were disappointed when they received stickers, a plastic logo wristband and an empty Chanel logo dust bag. “Must be a prank! Stickers,” said Elise Harmon, creator of the video, which has since received over 17 million views. The creator received severe backlash for the giveaway, prompting the creator to react “We are aware of the comments that are currently visible under our posts and are sorry that this calendar may have disappointed some people,” the brand said.

Pantone unveils color of the year

The Pantone color of the year 2022 has arrived – 17-3938 Very Peri. The periwinkle blue hue is new to the brand and encourages “personal inventiveness and creativity”. “As we enter a world of unprecedented change, Pantone’s selection 17-3938 Very Peri brings a new perspective and vision to the trusted and beloved blue color family,” said Leatrice Eisemen, Executive Director from Pantone. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, while possessing a violet-red undertone, Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri exhibits a cheerful, playful attitude and a dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”

Dua Lipa collaborates with Puma for a capsule collection

Dua Lipa releases a collection with Puma. The butterfly-themed capsule is dubbed “Flutur” – the Albanian word for “butterfly” – and pays homage to the 90s sportswear scene and a symbol of makeover. The collaboration includes baby t-shirts, a hoodie, shoes and other apparel, featuring a butterfly motif and Puma’s logo. “To me, butterflies are more than beautiful creatures; they represent so much, like transformation, hope and metamorphosis,” said Dua Lipa. “Over the past year, the butterfly has become particularly symbolic and meaningful to me. I have chosen [the name ‘Flutur’] pay homage to my heritage while celebrating this new beginning with Puma. More details on the collaboration will drop in 2022.

Edward Enninful, editor of British Vogue, publishes his memoir. The British publisher shared the news on Instagram, explaining how the pandemic inspired him to start writing. With over three decades in the fashion industry, he has gone from male model to fashion editor. “I wanted to share my own childhood experiences at the offices of Vogue and show how anyone can change the world, with a little passion, perseverance and a pure heart,” he said.
