Top 10 details you didn’t notice in Malcolm

How about talking about the best Sitcom in the history of TV by giving you a little list of little mistakes and hidden tricks in the series? Somehow you have no way to answer me clearly “no”, so I will continue to write and pretend that you said “yes”, otherwise it completely ruins my top and my day by the same occasion. If you don’t know Malcolm well take the test.

1. One of the best episodes was written by an 11-year-old girl.

The episode “If Boys Were Girls” where we see Lois imagining her family life if she had only given birth to girls is absolutely brilliant and remains one of the best in the series. Well it was written by the daughter of an 11 year old costume designer. She had laid out a two-page script that the creator loved and she was credited in the credits as the screenwriter.

2. You never know their last name

There is only one episode where we can see Francis’ badge on which is written “Francis Wilkerson” but a little later the creators rectified the situation by displaying on another badge “Francis Nolastname” (Francis no last name) story that we understand that it is assumed that we never know their real last name.

3. Fake cigarettes

In one episode, Lois confiscates the kids’ belongings and we see a pack of “Morley” cigarettes, a fake brand that is actually found in several other series and films, such as Walking Dead et Psychosis. A kind of multiverse, but cigarettes.

4. We see Bernard the hamster in several episodes

During an episode of the third season Dewey releases the family hamster by letting him go in his ball to new horizons. We actually see him pass in several other episodes at different times, even as far as Alaska where Francis is. How does he survive on so little food? A riddle.

5. The same universe as Friends

Some series wink furtively and Malcolm does it with the series Friends through a character with suicidal tendencies to whom Phoebe sells ink. He appears in an episode of Malcolm where he says his job is selling printer ink and he’s obviously still played by Jason Alexander (Seinfeld).

6. Dewey plays Gameboy without a game

He’s so awesome that he gets to play Gameboy without even putting a cartridge in the console. A little mistake that happens when the prop guy doesn’t know enough about it, we’d let it go but there’s another episode where Reese does the exact same thing.

7. The Story of Craig’s Mom That Makes No Sense

If you remember Craig, Lois’ completely in love co-worker, you might not remember that he repeatedly talks about his mother and gives different versions: in one episode he says she’s dead when he was a kid and in another that he has just given him his cat to keep. It’s not clear, but the character is cool so we forgive.

8. The picture of Lois’ dad messing around

In one episode, we see a photo of Lois’ father when he was young, it’s the actor who plays Francis who poses in the photo with huge eyebrows. So far no problem, except that a few seasons later we learn that Lois’ father is not her biological father, which makes a big mess of her resemblance to Francis.

9. We see members of the team several times

Camera shadows, bits of the studio and members of the team can appear at several points in the series, it happens in the shoots, it doesn’t matter. But there is a scene where we see a technician holding a bucket of water and the team realized this during the filming but decided to leave it, thinking that people would not necessarily see it. So it’s a bit stupid because yes, we saw it.

10. Breaking Bad Was Just Hal’s Dream

In an alternate ending of Breaking Bad Hal can be seen waking up in a panic alongside Lois and telling her that he dreamed he was producing drugs with another guy. Lois kinda pisses him off and goes back to bed, which would have been a good ending for the show, because Breaking Bad is pretty damn good.
