Neither The sex of cherries, Jeanette Winterson wrote that “the islands are the metaphors of the heart “.
Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July, the hearts of hundreds of thousands of music fans will land in Pāpiliōnem, the virtual island home of the Tomorrowland edition of the summer 2020. The iconic electronic dance music festival (EDM), normally held in Boom, Belgium, could not leave all its fans “at home” this year, who come to Flanders from the four corners of the globe for each edition from Tomorrowland.
And for the first virtual edition, Tomorrowland did things in a big way. All the technical elements that make up the show are programmed and controlled by the same team that would be present at the usual editions of Tomorrowland to make the appearance more realistic. The landscapes for each stage were made to measure to report every detail of the elements of the festival park: the Core stage is located in a forest setting, while the legendary Main Stage will look like the famous amphitheater.
As organizer Michiel Beers told during the introductory press conference, “the special effects will be in the style of the Hollywood ones. Visitors can easily navigate on a platform expressly created by the festival through their computer, smartphone or tablet. In four recording studios – as well as in Belgium, in São Paulo, Sydney and Los Angeles, ed. – over sixty artists in lineup will play live “.
Some names? Impossible to really mention them all. Among those not to be missed, it is worth mentioningand our own Tale of Us, our friend Dixon, David Guetta and Charlotte De Witte. And, although electronic music is the highlight for Tomorrowland’s virtual viewers, there really is something for everyone. Katy Perry, who for the occasion will propose some of his best hits and asome previews of his new album “Smile”, out in August, promised a “breathtaking performance “.
Tomorrowland Around The World: the lineup
A lot of music, but not only: to complete the program of Tomorrowland there are sixteen inspirational sessions, which will have as many opinion leaders as protagonists. From Cirque du Soleil founder Guy La Libertè to sportsmen like Shaquille O’Neal and surfer Bethany Hamilton. And to top it all off, virtual games, 3D experience and even a museum, to be visited before the show starts. Without leaving their home, the participants of the festival will therefore be able to move within the festival with their devices, ranging from music, webinars, workshops, and fashion and food for the duration of Tomorrowland Around The World.
So much so, we, as every year, will not miss the call of the most famous festival in the world. And now that it is the festival itself that arrives on your screens, there is really no excuse to miss an epochal appointment for the history of musical events.
