Known for his own stunts in Mission: Impossible, Tom Cruise sometimes forgets that most people don’t feel happy in the face of impending death.
Famous movie star Tom Cruise, known for volunteering to perform his own stunts, sometimes forgets that most ordinary humans generally don’t like diving to their possible death. Cruise starred as Ethan Hunt in the Impossible mission spy movie mega-franchise from 1996 to present. Mission: impossible 7 and 8 are both on track for a release with Christopher McQuarrie directing in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
After establishing himself with various performances in a variety of genres, Cruise has since switched to the role of action heroes later in his career. Although the spy series is Cruise’s only long-running action franchise, the actor also starred in the Jack Reacher thrillers and has a long awaited Top Gun follow-up to come in November. Cruise also has a host of unique action vehicles under his belly, including Valkyrie, Oblivion, Edge of tomorrow, war of the worlds, and a restart of The Mummy. The supernatural-shaped star is known for choosing to do her own stunts in these films, many of which revolve around placing their protagonists in dangerous storylines. On most sets, trained professionals will usually step in to do the physically difficult stunts that the actors cannot reasonably be expected to perform.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show broadcast on Friday by The daily mailCruise admitted that the crew had to tell him not to smile while filming the stunts. According to Cruise, the adrenaline rush associated with performing potentially fatal physical acts can be so powerful that he sometimes forgets to stay in his character during the action. While Cruise might get the maximum thrill when filming any given scene, Ethan Hunt probably wouldn’t feel so chipped. Cruise explained:
I am a very physical actor and I love to do them. I study and train and take a lot of time to figure it all out. I broke a lot of bones! The first time in a waterfall is scary, but it’s also exhilarating. I was told a few times while filming a stunt to stop smiling!
As with all action franchises, like Mission: Impossible produces more installments, audiences expect even more action, resulting in bigger explosions and closer contact with death. Some of the stunts that have made Cruise smile over the years include jumping out of planes at different altitudes, hanging onto the outside of a plane during take-off, and driving cars during chase scenes. . Cruise also held his breath underwater, filming a drowning scene for six minutes. During recent filming Mission: impossible 7, the actor slipped on a motorcycle outdoors.
It’s understandable that someone who voluntarily participates in any of the above activities might not realize that others might be less inclined to ignore their natural instinct for self-preservation. In all fairness, most of the characters that Cruise stars in Impossible mission and other action films are also ready to put themselves in danger to accomplish their missions. Of course, these characters aren’t usually happy to be in these situations, but that’s what acting is for.
