TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus 2022: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination-II (CCSE-II) to shortlist candidates for recruitment to various Civil Services in Tamil Nadu. TNPSC conducts CCSE-II exams for different posts under Group 2 and 2A. TNPSC Group-2 and 2A services notifications are going to release on 23rd February 2022. The prelims exam for the same is scheduled for 21st May 2022. The significance of TNPSC Group 2 and TNPSC Group 2A can be defined as under:

  • Group 2 (Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2 is done on the basis of the preliminary exam, main written exam, and Interview/Personality Test.
  • Group 2A (Non-Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2A is done based on marks obtained in them in the written exam only.

TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern

The TNPSC Group 2 Exam will be held in 3 phases:

  1. Prelims
  2. Mains: This will comprise 2 papers: Paper I and Paper II.
  3. Interview: The interview will be held for the candidates who wish to appear or as per the cut-off set by the Commission.
    Group 2 (Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2 is done on the basis of the preliminary exam, main written exam, and Interview/Personality Test.
    Group 2A (Non-Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2A is done based on marks obtained in them in the written exam only.

TNPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam Pattern

Before we discuss the TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus, let us first look into the TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern For the Prelims Exam.

  • The TNPSC Prelims will have 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s).
  • All the questions will be available in both the English and Tamil languages.
  • There will be 100 questions from General Tamil/English, 75 from General Studies, and 25 questions from the Aptitude and Mental Ability Test.
  • The duration of the TNPSC Prelims Exam is 3 hours of a maximum of 300 marks.

TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern For Mains

The TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam Pattern will have two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Both the papers will have different qualifying marks and exam duration.

  • TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam holds utmost importance as the marks secured by the candidates in this Exam are considered for the Final Selection.
  • This will have 2 papers: Paper I and Paper-II.
  • Part A – It has 2 questions from Tamil to English Translation and English to Tamil Translation.
  • Part B – It has 10 questions from Precis Writing, Comprehension, Hints Development, and Essay Writing on ‘Thirukkural’ and Letter writing.
  • Paper- I will be of 100 marks of 1 hour 30 minutes duration.
  • Paper-II will be of 300 marks of 3 hours duration.
  • Answer sheets of the candidates who do not secure minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I will not be considered for the evaluation of Paper-II
