Timothée Chalamet: what to know about his 2020

While most of us were desperately looking for the next Netflix series to devour in version binge-watch during the lockdown, Timothée Chalamet has kept himself busy in other ways.

Although we certainly cannot define him as a voracious social media user, he is certainly rather ‘metaphysical’ and we have been able to collect various information from his posts on Instagram (there have been many announcements on the next roles in the cinema, Covid -19 obviously allowing!). Here is a rundown of the highlight of Chalamet’s life in these months of 2020.

Timothée Chalamet loves Kraft Mac & Cheese

Recently, and not a joke, the 24-year-old actor confused fans by posting a photo of his pantry. Not only was the image rather blurry – and also unsuccessful; healthy foods were almost non-existent. A packet of Triscuits crackers squeezed between the wall and a box of Kraft Mac & cheese and, looking at you desperately, a half-empty bear-shaped honey container.

As a Twitter user points out, Chalamet seems to be fond of tea, and in particular the Twinings English Breakfast. Ah, and let’s not forget that this post of his pantry has collected almost 2 M of ‘Like’. What to say? Notes from the world take notes.

He is a budding collector

Chalamet’s posts may also be sporadic but are then analyzed by the public in the smallest details. In March, the actor, who was born and raised in New York, posted a gallery of photos taken at home, one of which he portrays in the background, A Bigger Splash by David Hockney. Since, as a rule, the paintings of the British painter are sold for amounts of up to 90 million dollars, we are inclined to think that it is a print. Or, Chalamet was a guest of someone very wealthy.

Style is always cool

Maybe you, like me, have survived the lockdown in sweatpants and T-shirts but Chalamet, the most influential man in fashion according to Lyst, has maintained his reputation as a cool dresser, pairing, for example, a pair of pink Stella McCartney jeans with Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunks sneakers or a Chelsea hat for a pre-quarantine walk in London (the rest is Prada).

He is a big fan of Kid Cudi

Chalamet has posted twice on Twitter about the new single Leader of the Delinquents of the rapper from Ohio and made indirect references to Cudi’s debut single, Day ’N’ Nitand on Instagram. The two seem to have been friends for a while: last year Cudi accompanied the actor to the premiere of The king, then Chalamet returned the gesture by introducing his performance on the ComplexCon stage in November.

Radio stations almost unknown, such as the Londoner Rinse FM

There was this image of DJ Paramida’s January show on Rinse FM, of which Chalamet is clearly a fan. Paramida sets range from Italian house to trance music to hi-NRG techno. Perhaps the actor was experiencing the London cultural scene while rehearsing his show 4000 Miles at the Old Vic (postponed because of Covid-19).

Memories of the former math teacher, Ms Lawton

Recently, Chalamet participated, together with Barack Obama, Dua Lipa and Zendaya, in the # GraduateTogether2020 online campaign of the Rethink Together Forum. In his brief message to graduates in 2020, Chalamet recalled former mathematics teacher, Ms Lawton, of the LaGuardia Institute in New York: “Thank you for your commendable commitment to teaching me statistics. Thanks for everything”.

The Chalamettes more devotees will remember Ms Lawton from her 2013 viral hit entitled statistics, in which ‘Lil Timmy Tim’ performs in a rap track dedicated to the art of numbers. We can’t wait to listen Statistics: Vol 2 but in the meantime, here is another unforgettable gem taken from the historical repertoire of Lil Timmy Tim.

He is excited about the release of Dunes (just like us!)

The protagonist of Ladybird dedicated two posts to Dunes, the film adaptation of the 1965 science fiction novel by Frank Herbert (with release date yet to be determined). Directed by Denis Villeneuve (director of Blade Runner 2049, 2017) and with a cast consisting of Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem; the first images from the set have already tilted the network.

Chalamet plays Paul Atreides, the eldest son of a noble family forced into an impossible situation. Filmed in Jordan and Budapest, what we have seen so far is a mix of atmospheres from Hunger Games and desert scenarios. Whether or not it will be better than the cult version of David Lynch from 1984 remains to be seen.

Covid permitting, has a number of excellent films due out this year

Although dates may change, in addition to Dunes, this year we could see Chalamet in the new film by Wes Anderson, The French Dispatch, alongside an equally stellar cast – Saoirse Ronan, Elisabeth Moss, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Benicio Del Toro (out in October).

Chalamet and Armie Hammer will return to star in Look for me, the sequel to the film by Guadagnino, Call me by your name. A production that has been postponed for now is that of 4000 Miles by Amy Herzog, who was due to open in London’s Old Vic this month. Rumors are also circulating that he was hired to play Bob Dylan, whom Chalamet himself mentioned on Twitter, showing Bob Dylan Chronicles, Volume One.

Ah … he’s single

After more than a year with the actress and model Lily-Rose Depp during which they gave us amazing moments (like the one in The king on Netflix), Chalamet confirmed that he was single in an interview with Fashion Uk in April.
