Tesla’s new Cybertruck pickup has been plagued by a couple of other issues, prompting the automaker to recall two vehicles on Tuesday.
Tesla will be fixing a problem that is causing the large windshield wiper to fail. They will also fix an issue that could cause a piece along the edge of truck bed to fly off.
The windshield recall affects 11688 Cybertrucks while the trim issue affects 11383, suggesting that almost all Cybertrucks currently on the road will be called in for repair.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) recall notice stated that the front wiper motor controller may stop working due to electrical overload to the gate driver component. Tesla has already begun contacting affected owners regarding the matter.
Cybertruck owners claimed that the motor of the windshield wiper was failing and preventing it from working. This issue gained wide coverage earlier this month. One Florida owner said he got caught in a downpour while driving home after picking up his Cybertruck. The wipers didn’t work, so he couldn’t see out the windshield. He had no choice but stick his head out the side window to find a safe stop.
The NHTSA states that the trim is not properly attached and could cause a road hazard to motorists behind. All repair fees will be waived.
Tesla recalled thousands Cybertrucks from April due to a loose accelerator pedal cover which could cause the pedals to become stuck. In January, the Elon Musk led automaker issued software recalls for several millions of its vehicles, including Cybertrucks. The recalls were to increase the size and visibility of the visual warning indicators in the instrument panel.
