Iconic Naruto characters are the stars of exclusive new apparel collaboration between Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Collection and VIZ Media.
Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Collection is teaming up with one of the world’s most well known manga and anime distributors, VIZ Media, to launch an awesome new Naruto clothing collection. It’s the second time Dim Mak and Naruto have come together – following last September’s collaboration – with some stunning new apparel on show.
EDM and anime go together like peanut butter and jelly; anyone that has ever been to a music festival can tell you that this is an absolute truth. From night clubs to raving in the woods, anime has left a permanent mark on the culture of electronic music, making this mashup a total dream. A noted solo artist, producer, and founder of Dim Mak Records, Steve Aoki transcends even his huge significance to EDM, and the same can be said for Naruto among those who may not otherwise know much about manga or anime. These two behemoths of their respective worlds have now come together, and the result is seriously stunning.

Established in Aoki’s college dorm, Dim Mak’s global mission is to push the boundaries of music and culture “by any means necessary,” and as one of the most successful intersections of Japanese and American pop culture, Naruto is an obvious match for these sensibilities. Aoki feels a particular connection to the idea of the Will of Fire, and the concept of pulling together to protect and realize dreams for the future – something that’s at the core of all his projects. In a press release regarding the new collaboration, Aoki says:
As an Asian-American kid growing up in the USA, there were not many people who looked like me – I felt different. Eventually, music allowed me to find my community and build my tribe. In 1996, I founded Dim Mak Records as a means to foster this chosen family and to project a message to the world that through grit and resilience, anything is achievable by any means necessary – this has been the Dim Mak mantra ever since and a testament to our Will of Fire.
Building on Aoki’s previous collaboration with artist Masashi Kishimoto, the collection includes twelve apparel styles in multiple colorways, with a focus on expressing the story arcs for chosen Naruto characters, meaning that there is something for just about everyone. Hoodies, t-shirts, and long sleeves in various colors and designs allow Dim Mak and Naruto fans to express their individual flair. The pieces feature the original Team 7 Genin – Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura – as well as fan favorite characters including Itachi, Gaara, Jiraiya, and Kakashi. The designs feature some love for each brand involved in the collab, featuring slick Naruto artwork intertwined with the Dim Mak logo. Of course it wouldn’t be a DJ-related clothing line without a ton of black clothes, but there’s color here too, including gorgeous tie-die options swirling with energy.
This Dim Mak x Naruto collaboration is exclusive to the Dim Mak website, with the new line available from April 3. A must-have for fans of EDM, Naruto, or just boundary-defying culture, the line embodies the spirit of those looking to build and celebrate their personal tribe, as well as to make their mark “by any means necessary.”
