Schitt’s Creek’s Rosebud Motel, the location where the Rose family settled down in the series’ titular small town, is now available for sale.
The Rosebud Motel from Schitt’s Creek is up for sale. The Rose family started off in a massive mansion, but when they lost all of their money, they only had one option left. Purchased as a prank, Johnny Rose realized the family had one asset remaining: the small town of Schitt’s Creek. Within that town is the Rosebud Motel (originally the Schitt’s Creek Motel), run by Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire). Although there are no suites like the ones the Roses are accustomed to, they slowly but surely make the motel their home.
Eventually, Johnny and the family help turn the motel into a thriving business. By the end of Schitt’s Creek‘s six season run, Johnny and Stevie are full business partners and begin to franchise the Rosebud Motel. The heartwarming series became a cultural touchstone of the late 2010s and, after years of going unrecognized, had a historic sweep at the 2020 Emmys. Now, Schitt’s Creek viewers can be a part of that history, too.

The Ontario property that served as the Rosebud Motel during Schitt’s Creek‘s entire run is up for sale on Colliers, a Canadian real estate company (via EW). The property sits on 6.7 acres and is available for purchase for a $2 million CAD or $1.6 million USD. The listing says the current property is not operational, but cites the unique opportunity for a new owner to come in and take over what has become a bit of a historic landmark for Schitt’s Creek viewers.
The official name of the place is the Hockley Motel, but that hasn’t stopped many from visiting the landmark as Schitt’s Creek has soared in popularity during its run. Surprisingly, Schitt’s Creek isn’t even the only show the motel has appeared in. Netflix’s own The Umbrella Academy has shot scenes at the Hockley Motel and so, too, did the 2005 thriller A History of Violence. Locals have reported traffic around the area has become a problem as visitors look to get a glimpse of the iconic location.
Although the Rosebud Motel was a strange choice of home for the Roses at first, it became a source of joy and love for both the family and the viewers who came to love the show. It makes sense many are eager to see it in person. Despite its appearances in other projects, the motel is likely to go down in history as the Rosebud Motel from Schitt’s Creek and, if whoever purchases it is smart, they will turn it into a memorial of sorts to a television show that inspired many over the years.
