Rick and Morty season 5: Everything we know so far

The fourth season of Rick and Morty ended on Sunday evening with the broadcast of Star Mort Rickturn by Jerri. But it certainly didn’t seem to be a full 10-episode season thanks to this strange four-month separation in the middle and a world that has changed dramatically between the two halves. Five episodes of the animated comedy Adult Swim aired in 2019, but the last five weren’t shown until spring 2020, when the world was just around the corner Corona virus outbreak. The controversial sixth episode, Never wrestle Ricky, even included a Mention of the virusRick told his grandson to “look straight into the bleeding jaws of capitalism” and buy things because “nobody is out there”.

It is currently unclear what the global health situation will look like in Rick and Morty’s fifth season. But the show was renewed for a whopping 70 new episodes in 2018, leaving at least 60 left. Here’s what we know about the possible return of the show. We will update this story as soon as we know more.

When to see

There is no season 5 premiere yet, but co-creator Justin Roiland told Slash Film that the upcoming season was “mostly in a can.” And he admits that even though he doesn’t know if the next season of 10 episodes will be split with a break in the middle like Season 4, he doesn’t think this will happen.

“I think if they have the full 10 episodes they will release them without separation, but frankly I have no idea,” Roiland told Slash Film.

If it were up to Roiland, Rick and Morty could become a monthly rather than a weekly event. “I said we should drop an episode every month, just make it a big event,” he said in the interview. “If you do one a month, the show is alive all year round and you still buy us all the time we need to make it as good as it needs to be.”

Seasons 3 and 4 were separated for more than two years, but Chris Parnell, who uttered Jerry, told Games Radar that he thought there would be less waiting time between seasons thanks to the sequence of 70 episodes. He also does not believe that the coronavirus pandemic will slow down production and says, “A lucky thing is that our show is mainly animated in Canada so they don’t have the same limitations we might have if our show was in the United States would be animated. ” Asian countries where things were a little more closed. ”

What will happen next season?

Not much has been said about what adventures Rick and Morty will experience in season 5. Already in September 2019 the show author Jess Loveness tweeted a photo with some screenplays that he had written for the show. One of them is episode 501, which would mean that it is the first episode of season five. Loveness darkened the episode titles, but some fans tried to guess. If you are really good at decoding Sharpie doodles, you should do it.

Who is who?

Rick and Morty have a huge cast – some characters appear once and are never seen again, others come back from time to time. But the Smith-Sanchez family is the main backbone of the show.

Rick Sanchez is a brilliant crazy scientist who left daughter Beth for years before returning to her life. He now lives with her family and Roiland said on Twitter that the crew lived outside of Seattle. Rick is … well, eccentric is not quite the right word. He can do anything, including turning himself into a cucumber, and thanks to the portal weapon he can use to travel between universes/dimensions / realities, he can go anywhere. He’s not exactly a good family man, but he sometimes gets through in the clutch.

Morty Smith is Rick’s nervous grandson, a 14-year-old high school student who accompanies many of his adventures with his grandfather – often not so happy. He has a crush on the cool high school girl Jessica.

Summer Smith is Rick’s granddaughter and attends the same school as Morty. She is a few years older than her brother and a lot cooler.

Beth Smith is the mother of Morty and Summer. Although she got pregnant with Summer at her prom, she managed to become a successful equine surgeon.

Jerry Smith is Beth’s husband and Morty and Sommer’s father. His marriage is often rocky and Rick can hardly stand him loud and clear.
