Have you heard of aging house design on the spot? It’s a new trend for the elderly and the elderly who dream of living independently in their own familiar home as they age, surrounded by many rich and fulfilling memories they have long cherished. During the recent launch of a new business focused on home modification for the elderly and disabled in the Atlanta, GA area, I was very pleased to see that the National Association of Home Builders offered the courses I needed to get my Certified Specialist in Aging in Place (CAPS) certification right here in Atlanta, Georgia. I was able to complete all three courses in February of this year, thanks to the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. Many topics were discussed, including how to do assessments of aging in place.
The NAHB Certified Aging-In-Place program teaches individuals about business management, the disability accessibility aspects of architectural design, and the customer service procedures required to make design and installation changes. full services in homes. There are three categories of aging in place. The first group is made up of over 50 seniors who are in good health, but who wisely strive to renovate their homes as they age. The second group includes people with progressive illnesses or disabilities who need to modify their homes to meet their growing accessibility needs. The final aging in place group includes people who have been in an accident and need immediate home modifications upon their return from rehabilitation or hospital. Aging-in-place specialists are trained to serve each of these three groups; skillfully serving seniors and people with disabilities as they seek to live independently in homes they have long cherished.
In-home assessments are professionally performed by certified on-site aging specialists. Modifications to the home are determined by assessing the needs of the disabled resident and comparing the needs to the residential spaces in Atlanta.
