Reasons You Need Protein Shakes
Nowadays, everyone wants to be in absolutely prime shape, with bulging biceps and washboard abs all over the place. Reaching that state, in today’s throwaway, instant gratification culture, isn’t all that easy. One way to make it substantially easier is protein shakes. Here are three great reasons why!
You Need a LOT of Protein
If your goal is to build a sheer amount of muscle and really pile it on consistently, you need to be consistently consuming somewhere between 1.2 and 1.7 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight every single day. With elite athletes eating as much as 2g per kg.
As you can imagine that’s difficult to hit through food alone. We all like eating, but devouring that much protein quickly becomes something of an ordeal. Protein shakes deal with that.
Consistency is Key
One of the main troubles when it comes to building a large amount of muscle is consistency. Even if you manage to get to that point where you’re enjoying hitting the gym three plus times a week, which is hard enough on its own, you’ve then got to pile on the hassle of teaching your body to regularly accept huge amounts of protein and food, which isn’t as much fun as it sounds.
Grilled chicken breast, broccoli, and kale is okay, but not all the time. When it comes to getting in shape, you don’t want to do it in a way you really can’t maintain.
Getting in shape
What’s the point getting in shape if you can’t stay in shape, long-term? If you’re spending a lot of money on a gym membership, and healthy foods, and investing a lot of time right now, do you really want those gains to quickly slip away because you couldn’t maintain it long term?
Of course not! That’s why anything that minimises effort and thought required to maintain and enhance that physique is a life saver. For example, if you’re really pushing yourself to the limit and beyond, doing tons of unnecessary exercises, as well as forcing down tons of healthy food every day, you’re going to give that up so much quicker than if you were simply doing a focused, effective gym routine, and eating all your protein in manageable, affordable meals.
With some of the cheaper options for protein shake coming in at as little as £2 per meal, that’s always going to be tons cheaper than trying to hit those protein calories entirely with chicken breasts and veggies. Quality protein heavy food is traditionally expensive, and if you go cheap, you’re going to be risking the wrong kinds of gains. Protein shakes are what you need, in a concentrated form, to hit the kinds of gains you’re aiming for.
People think that getting into dream shape is expensive, but if you find a good value gym, optimise your diet, and simply keep at it all long term, you’ll hit your goals inevitably. Just don’t forget to use every single tool at your disposal, and continually make sure you’re not wasting effort. There are tons of tips for getting into ideal shape all over the net too!
