The smallest royal, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, is celebrating his first birthday today! Kate Middleton and Prince William sent their birthday wishes to Twitter. Sharing a family portrait of Archie’s baptism last year, the Cambridges wrote: “I wish Archie a very happy first birthday today!”
The Queen and Prince Philip also wished Archie a happy birthday on Twitter, posting an official photo originally posted shortly after his birth. In the photo, a smiling Meghan is holding Archie, while her mom, Doria Ragland, Harry, the Queen and Prince Philip are all watching the child. “Happy birthday to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor who is celebrating his first birthday today!” read the tweet from the @RoyalFamily official account. “Archie is the queen’s eighth great grandchild.”
Before the coronavirus pandemic made travel impossible, Meghan and Harry had originally planned to travel with Archie to Queen’s Balmoral Estate in Scotland to celebrate her birthday, with a picnic organized for the occasion, according to We weekly. Their celebration in North America was probably also canceled: Meghan’s mother, Ragland, and best friends Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer were invited to stay with the Sussexes, but the rules of social distancing probably thwarted these plans. Yet Meghan and Harry have no doubt found a way to celebrate their little one at home.
