Dedicated to Keshava, a form of Lord Vishnu, Soumyakeshava Temple is a sacred temple for Hindu devotees. The temple has been declared a monument of national importance and is a protected site under the Archaeological Survey of India. The six-foot idol of Keshava stands on a Garuda pedestal, accompanied by his consorts Bhu Devi and Neela Devi. The three-shrine (Trikuta Chala) temple has a sanctum (Garbhagriha) and a vestibule (Antarala), connecting the sanctum to a closed inner hall (Mandapa), which further opens into an assembly hall (Maha Mandapa). The central mandapa in front of the main deity has a carved stone structure inscribed with Adiseshan with 108 conch shells. Adiseshan’s head is called Rahu, while its tail is called Ketu.
