- HMD Global briefly shared the roadmap for Android 11 updates on Nokia phones.
- The first phones to receive the new operating system will be Nokia 2, 5 and 8 series phones in the fourth quarter of 2020.
- However, you would have to wait until the second quarter of 2021 to update your Nokia 1 Plus or 9 Pureview.
You may need to be patient before your Nokia phone receives the Android 11 update. NeoWin reports that HMD Global briefly released its Android 11 roadmap for Nokia phones, and if so, it’s bad news for some owners.

The schedule is that the Nokia 2.2, 5.3, 8.1 and 8.3 5G will receive the Android 11 update for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2020. Most of the eligible phones would receive their upgrades in the first quarter of 2021, including the Nokia 1.3. 2.3, 2.4, 3.2, 3.4, 4.2, 6.2 and 7.2. It’s relatively late, but not unusual.
However, with two great phones you need to be extra patient. According to the news, the no-frills Nokia 1 Plus and camera-centric Nokia 9 Pureview won’t receive their upgrades until the second quarter of 2021 – half a year after Android 11 first hit devices. This wouldn’t be entirely surprising given the comparable age of the devices, but it could be frustrating if Google’s newest operating system was running on Pixel phones for several months at this point.

The roadmap matches the age of the phones, some of which (like the 2018 Nokia 8.1) would be two or more years old by the time Android 11 became available. It would cut off a wave of cell phones including the first Nokia 1 and the premium Nokia 8 Sirocco.
Don’t be shocked if the timing changes. It’s not sure why HMD Global deleted its roadmap post and there could be changes to the schedule. However, if it’s reasonably accurate, it will take a while for every qualified phone to use the latest software.
