Mortal Kombat 11 Skarlet Cosplay Shared By Series Creator

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon took to Twitter to share photos of cosplayer Armored Heart dressed up in her impressive MK11-inspired Skarlet garb.

Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat co-creator, recently took to Twitter to share a few photos of cosplayer Armored Heart’s impressive Mortal Kombat 11-inspired Skarlet cosplay. The Blood Magik mage has, to most fans, existed since the Mortal Kombat II days. Rumors of a “Scarlet” coding glitch in the classic title eventually culminated in her appearance in 2011’s MK9, where she officially debuted among the fighting franchise’s first batch of DLC characters.

Over time, Skarlet’s become a fan-favorite kombatant. While she didn’t feature on the Mortal Kombat X roster in 2015, the mage did play a part in the tie-in comic series from DC Comics. NetherRealm Studios brought the deadly character back into the fold as a part of Mortal Kombat 11’s main roster of fighters, further cementing her place in the long-running canon. Evidently, her popularity continues to rise.

In recent years, Skarlet’s grown into a favorite character to imitate for video game cosplayers. Armored Heart’s cosplay of the Outworlder is especially worthy of note, given that Ed Boon himself seems beyond impressed. Boon shared a few of the cosplayer’s Skarlet photos on his Twitter page, describing the work as “next level.” According to Armored Heart‘s own post, Twitter user and photographer GeekStrongTV is responsible for capturing the magic. As noted by Game Rant, this particular outfit design takes cues from Skarlet’s Kold War skin in Mortal Kombat 11. The DLC set reimagined her as a Cold War operative, complete with a mask accentuated by a bold red star – the same star featured in Armored Heart’s incredibly detailed costume.

The effort that cosplayers put into their work never ceases to amaze, and Armored Heart’s Skarlet cosplay is no exception. Of course, the same goes for other cosplayers whose photos have made the rounds of late, including cosplayers for League of Legends, Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu, and more.

In the weeks and months ahead, even more Mortal Kombat cosplay is bound to take the internet by storm due to the reboot film’s imminent release. The franchise’s return to the big screen seems as though it will pull no punches, as red band trailers show the film proudly boasting Fatalities and all manner of MK-related violence.
