Kevin Garnett Is Part Of An Ownership Team Trying To Purchase The Minnesota Timberwolves

Kevin Garnett last played in the NBA in 2016, but he’s been busy ever since. He had a major role in the film Uncut gems and is now trying to buy part of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the franchise that gave him his NBA debut.

Garnett has had ownership plans since 2015, when he was still playing. He was planning to join a group of investors with several people, including his former trainer Flip Saunders; however, this fell apart when Saunders passed away in October of that year.

When Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor turned to other minority partners, Garnett felt betrayed. He called the owner a “snake [bleep]”and said he would not participate in removing his Timberwolves jersey. However, Garnett seems to have changed his mind now that Taylor has announced the team is for sale.

Even if Garnett left the Timberwolves to pursue a championship – winning one in 2008 with the Boston Celtics – he would still be a welcome addition to the franchise. The team has missed the playoffs 15 of the past 16 seasons, so a legend like Garnett would bring more excitement to the city. And he would also likely have a say in the running of the franchise where he started and ended his career.

But as Action Network’s Darren Rovell notes, Garnett lost a good chunk of his NBA career earnings – which was around $ 334.3 million – to taxes, fees and an advisor. unscrupulous financial. It might be difficult for him to buy a significant share in the squad, although he can still contribute.

Taylor bought the team in 1994 for $ 88 million. The franchise, which ranked 29th in attendance this season, is among the least valuable in the NBA. Still, it’s worth around $ 1.375 billion.

The property team that Garnett belongs to would have to spend that much to acquire the team. And with Taylor offering multiple deals, maybe they should pay even more.

Of course, no other ownership group has the most recognizable player in Timberwolves history. It certainly helps Garnett and his team’s cause, although he’s far from certain what Taylor will decide.

One thing is certain: anyone who buys the Timberwolves has their work cut out for them. But if they can restore the squad to where it was when Garnett played, they will be revered forever.
