A Justice League Snyder Cut fan edit places Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, in the movie’s final scene with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne.
A fan edit of Zack Snyder’s Justice League adds Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern to the ending. Snyder’s movie premiered on HBO Max on March 18 after a years-long campaign for its release. Thus far, many have lauded the film for its more complete character arcs, particularly for Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. Despite the success of the Justice League Snyder Cut, there are no plans for sequels at this time. Instead, WarnerMedia and DC are keen to focus on their future projects from other creators and are thinking of Zack Snyder’s Justice League as the definitive conclusion of the SnyderVerse.
One of the most-talked about aspects of the Snyder Cut is its inclusion of two different Green Lanterns. One, Yalan Gur, appears in the History Lesson scene, like in the Justice League theatrical cut. The other, Kilowog, is seen in the Knightmare timeline. However, once the Snyder Cut was announced, many hoped Reynolds’ Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, would appear in the film. That didn’t come to pass, though Snyder has revealed he had plans for Reynolds’ Green Lantern at one point.
Though some may be disappointed Reynolds’ character didn’t wind up appearing in the Justice League Snyder Cut, a recent edit from Live Breathe Media offers the next best thing. The video imagines Hal introducing himself to Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne at the end of the film. It makes it impressively easy to imagine a team up between the two. Check out the edit below:
The video works surprisingly well, seamlessly integrating Reynolds’ Green Lantern into the original scene. These sorts of wish fulfillment edits have become more commonplace of late. As technology has evolved, it’s enabled fans to put their own spin on their favorite movies and TV shows, adding characters and dialogue as they see fit. It’s a neat way of audiences showing their love for a piece of media and essentially making it their own.
This particular edit seems destined to increase support for Reynolds’ reprising his role as Green Lantern in a future DC Extended Universe project. Despite the poor reception Green Lantern received when it released in 2011, Reynolds has remained a good sport about it. He’s often mocked the movie himself and even recently rewatched it in honor of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. There may not be any current plans for Reynolds to return as Hal Jordan, but it seems likely many will continue to hope for it regardless.
