Sancho, 20, is one of the hottest prospects in world football – scoring 17 league goals and providing 16 assists last season – and had been closely linked with a move to Old Trafford.
However, United have reportedly hesitated at Dortmund’s valuation of Sancho, which stands at around $ 140 million.
Sancho, who was pictured in the UK last week, returned to Switzerland on Monday to join his squad for pre-season training and the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc said he was staying with the German club .
“We plan to have Jadon Sancho in our squad this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions,” the Dortmund player told reporters on Monday.
“Last summer, we adjusted Jadon’s salary based on how his performance evolved. So in the context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 at the time.”
Dortmund had set August 10 as the deadline for Manchester United to make the deal with Sancho and they appear to be keeping that promise.
The new Bundesliga season starts on September 18 and the club don’t want this ongoing transfer saga to impact their preparations.
United could still return for the England international who left local rivals Manchester City in 2017.
“A player like Sancho gives you the quality of the first team. It creates some good issues to have with who is playing; [Marcus] Rashford, [Mason] Greenwood, [Anthony] Martial or Sancho? “Said Mark Goldbridge, United fan and presenter of” The United Stand “fan channel.
