There are all sorts of different training processes for this, from amateur all the way through advanced professionals. Once the principles of Six Sigma are in place, managers and employees should see a drastic increase in the efficiency of nearly every aspect of day-to-day work. There are other formal methods out there as well. Do the same thing, but Six Sigma is probably the most visible.
It is impossible to underestimate the importance of employee happiness when it comes to workplace efficiency. If a manager understands what makes employees satisfied in the first place with their work efforts, they can create an environment where all of these contributing factors are in place. Then, once the majority of employees are happy with their work, drastic improvements and efficiency will naturally follow. As soon as an employee is disgruntled, it can be difficult to determine just how much of a drag on overall efficiency that creates, especially respecting long-term behaviour.
Creating Feedback Loops
Do you have an employee suggestion box set up in your workplace? If not, that may be the single biggest thing that is preventing efficiency from improving on an exponential scale. If low-level workers don’t feel like they are being listened to, then you are losing out on a precious resource. Figure out what the most efficient companies in the world create the basis of their structure behind, and then utilize that knowledge to your advantage. Maybe it is work environment. Perhaps it is perks that they give employees. The point is to find out what those advantages are that create this leadership potential in other businesses, and then Institute those similar methods in your own goals.
