Apple’s MacBooks have several options related to preserving the system’s battery and the amount of charge left in it. The main way to achieve this is through Sleep Mode, which puts the Apple laptop into a temporary sleeping mode that uses minimal power and also lets you wake it up instantly and continue where you left off. However, if you don’t want sleep mode to interfere with you and your MacBook’s work, there are some ways to keep it always on – here’s how to do it.
Turning off sleep mode via Energy Saver/Battery Settings (macOS Ventura and later)
A few things changed with the introduction of macOS Ventura. The name of the utility used to configure your Mac has changed from “System Preferences” to “System Settings.” And the format changed from an icon-oriented interface to tabs on the side. Many specific system settings also changed. So, if you’re moving from a Mac with a previous version of macOS, you’ll want to follow these instructions.
Nevertheless, turning off sleep mode is quite simple in macOS Ventura and later versions.
step 1: open system arrangement,
step 2: Choose lock screen Tab. You will get two options: Turn off battery display when idle And Turn off display on power adapter when idle, Next to each will be a selection for how long the display should remain inactive before turning off. Choose “Never” to prevent your Mac from going to sleep,
step 3: You can also make sure that your Mac doesn’t go to sleep when it’s plugged in and the display is off. To do this, select Battery tab, then Option…, toggle again Avoid sleeping on power adapter when display is off But.
Turning off Sleep Mode via Energy Saver/Battery Settings (prior to macOS Ventura)
step 1: choose system Preferences,
step 2: choose energy Saver icon (or Battery For newer versions of macOS).
step 3: There are two tabs – Battery and Power Adapter. The first one will be automatically selected when you open Energy Saver, so let’s start with that.
By default, the Turn Display Off After section will already be set to a specific time, which is used when no activity is detected on the Mac.
To completely disable this feature, drag the slider to the right where it says Never,
step 4: A warning window will appear stating that the MacBook may consume more energy with these specific settings. Beat Ok Button to confirm changes.
Step 5: Below the slider, there are some additional settings that you can also disable:
- Put the hard disk in sleep mode when possible
- Dim the display slightly when on battery power
- Enable Power Nap while on battery power
Step 6: Choose Power Adapter Tab and drag the slider to the right once again NeverAnd also turn off some of the settings below (keep the first one on):
- Prevent the computer from automatically sleeping when the display turns off
- Put the hard disk in sleep mode when possible
- Wake up to Wi-Fi network access
- Enable Power Nap while plugged in to the power adapter
Schedule Shutdown (before macOS Ventura)
If your schedule tool is enabled within Energy Saver, you’ll need to turn it off as well to keep your MacBook from going to sleep.
step 1: Choose Schedule button.
step 2: open the boxes start or wake up And Sleep boxes. Choose Ok button.
It is important to highlight how your battery will be affected if there is no sleeping option enabled for your Mac. As Apple itself says in the Energy Saver window, never letting your display go to sleep may shorten its life.
