Air travel is stressful enough without having to worry about paper boarding passes. You’re already dealing with taking off your shoes, juggling your wallet, ID card, and laptop, and a stinky-eyed security guard. If you have an iPhone, getting your boarding pass will be one less item on your to-do list when you arrive at the airport.
If you have an iPhone with Apple Wallet installed, you can easily present your digital boarding pass without having to rummage through your bag. Here’s everything you need to know about adding your boarding pass to Apple Wallet.
Note: Almost 70 airports around the world accept boarding passes through Apple Wallet, but not all do. Make sure the airports you use support this mobile feature before you begin.
If you receive your pass by email, text or browser
Once you have checked in to your flight, using either Safari or Chrome browser, the airline can email you a boarding pass. Apple Mail users have the added benefit of allowing the program to recognize the boarding pass and automatically add it to your Apple Wallet. In case that doesn’t happen, you still have the option of manually adding the boarding pass to your wallet.
Step 1: Open the attachment at the bottom of the email.
2nd step: Press the Add to Apple Wallet button and press Add.
Some boarding passes automatically display based on the location of your device or the time. For example, when you arrive at the airport, your boarding pass may appear as a notification on your iPhone screen. From there, just tap the Add to Apple Wallet button to store it.
If you use the airline app
If you’re the nervous type and want to make sure you’re not relying entirely on iOS to do its job, download your airline’s proprietary app and use it to check in on your flight. While not all airlines have a dedicated app, most top-tier airlines – United, Delta, Southwest, American, JetBlue, Hawaiian, and many international airlines – have apps to help you plan. and track your journey. After you check in, look for a button with the Apple Wallet icon to store your boarding pass.
Step 1: Create or login to your account.
2nd step: Enter your confirmation code.
Step 3: Look at your boarding pass or an invitation to check in for your flight so you can access it.
Step 4: Display your application interface to find Add to Apple Wallet and tap it, then tap Add.
Once you have the boarding pass in Apple Wallet, all you need to do is launch the app and present it to airline staff. For multiple boarding passes, register each mobile boarding pass individually for flight check-in. If you don’t need to keep old boarding passes, be sure to delete the old ones to avoid confusion under pressure. With all of this, it’s a great idea to have a hard copy of your itinerary with you as a backup just in case.
