How Much Do Governors Get Paid?
The governors of the 50 states were more than ever honoured during the COVID-19 crisis. Some have more important jobs than ever. California Gavin Newsom governs a state with nearly 40 million people. Mark Gordon of Wyoming oversees a state of 578,759 people – Los Angeles County alone has more than 10 million people. California is the most populous state in the United States, and if it were its own country, it would have the fifth-largest economy in the world.
Wyoming is the least populous state. As you can imagine, the work of the governors of these two states alone poses extremely different problems. And, like most jobs, the salary is proportional to the size of the job. The governors of more populous states like California and New York tend to earn more than the governors of less populated states like Wyoming and Vermont. However, none of these states is on a list of the five lowest-paid governors. The states that do and the size of their populations may surprise you.
Governors’ annual earnings range from $ 70,000 in Maine (which is less than a freelance writer who works from home, usually says it right) to $ 201,860 in California (which isn’t much for the cost high of life in California, just say). Serving one or two terms as governor is a good political springboard. Of the 45 men (still men, sigh) who were President of the United States, 17 were governors, before becoming President of the United States.
Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, Were governors of their respective states before becoming president. The 17 governors who became president come from only 10 states: Virginia, New York, Tennessee, Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Georgia, California, Arkansas and Texas.
Jay Inslee of Washington was shortlisted for the 2020 nomination. Andrew Cuomo of New York and Gavin Newsom of California are currently getting a lot of buzz about how they are managing their respective pandemic responses with trends # PresidentCuomo and #PresidentNewsom on social media.
