How Is the Easter Date Determined?

This year, spring begins on March 19, but the most famous holiday of the season is weeks later. And if you’re like us, you’re probably wondering exactly the same thing …
Why is easter so Late this year?
In contrast to festive holidays such as Halloween and Christmas, Easter is considered a “moving festival and can fall anywhere from March 22 to April 25” The old peasant’s almanac. Since Easter falls on April 12th of this year, it is at the last end of the date range.
Now that we have that out of the way, this brings us to our next question:
How is the Easter date determined?
Easter is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon – officially called “Easter full moon” – which lands on or shortly after the spring equinox. When is Easter 2021?
Easter will fall on April 4, 2021, slightly earlier than this year. Another little thing? Easter will be in April for the next three years!
