As if it were possible to summarize the career of Giorgio Armani in just 10 photos, to celebrate the 86 years old of the stylist we tried to collect the images of the finals of most beautiful parade and significant with King George on the catwalk.
Anyone who has had the good fortune to be invited to the great designer’s fashion shows, knows that it is a rarity for Giorgio Armani to allow himself to photographers in a group photo with the models, mostly the stylist tends to peek out from the shadow of the proscenium of Armani / Teatro in via Bergognone in Milan, to thank the guests of the parade by extending their arms in the affectionate gesture of a hug. We admit, however, that during our research it was nice to find and rediscover some of these photos in which King George is portrayed in the midst of his unmistakable creations, and we were thrilled to see the joy and pride of the designer who at the age of 86 also celebrates the brand’s 45th anniversary.
In a 1990 photo, Giorgio Armani appears surrounded by his models on a catwalk illuminated by a narrow corridor of warm light and in the background the image of the terrestrial globe. From what we can deduce from the image, for the collection of that year the designer was inspired by mother nature creating a series of draped or column peplum dresses in natural tones, made with fabrics with the most different textures that refer to the four fundamental elements of earth, air and water and fire.

In this 2004 photo, we see Giorgio Armani in one of the classic embrace gestures that he reserves to the guests of his fashion shows. In the images below, from 2011 and 2014, the designer proudly poses in front of the models in the collections Armani Privé presented during the Haute Couture week in Paris. As a true man of the past, Mr. Armani chooses for himself a more formal look to introduce yourself to Haute Couture customers. White shirt and black tie, instead of the casual and total black looks that he prefers for the “home” fashion shows, Armani / Teatro.

In 2018 King George allowed himself to photographers on several occasions. For the Emporio Armani collection he showed up on the catwalk accompanied by a small group of models wearing the most representative looks of that season; for the Giorgio Armani women’s show he let himself be portrayed in front of a cheerful crowd of girls and boys with an ironic gesture to contain their energy; for the men’s show instead, the designer preferred to go out alone on the catwalk to emphasize the message of that year’s collection “Made in Armani”.

On the occasion of one of the last men’s fashion shows, the designer after many years has chosen to present the collection in his historical headquarters in via Borgonuovo, in the Brera district of Milan, where he promised to bring back Haute Couture in 2021. At the end of the show Giorgio Armani arrives in the center of the courtyard surrounded by all the models of the show, visibly excited to be back in that building where he had worked for the first few years of his long, long career.
