Garth Brooks’s Wife Trisha Yearwood Talks Compromise in Their 14-Year Marriage
For country music couples Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks, making themselves a priority is the glue that unites them.
Talk to Hello America in December, the Food Network host said that despite their busy schedules, she and the singer “Unanswered Prayers” were constantly doing their best to make time for each other.
“You have to make a conscious effort to make sure you put each other first, and we do, and sometimes it’s not easy,” said Trisha. “We have to compromise, and that’s really what this is about. We are friends at the end of the day, and we enjoy each other’s company and enjoy being together.”

Trisha and Garth met in 1987 while recording a demo. At the time, Garth was still married to his first wife, Sandy Mahl, while Trisha was married to Christopher Latham.
“It’s strange because I felt that feeling like when you just met your wife, but I was married [to Sandy] for 13 months, “said Garth in a 2013 Ellen Degeneres show interview. “Being married must be true. It was who you went to college with, and you were married before God and your family and everything.”
In 2001, Garth called to leave Sandy – two years after Trisha’s separation from her second husband Robert Reynolds. Garth and Trisha got engaged and married in 2005.
“When you meet someone, you know,” said Garth Parade in 2016, when the publication asked the couple how each knew that the other was the right one. Trisha also added, “It was probably the minute I met him, although I didn’t know it at the time. I just think we are supposed to be.”
