Fortnite fans theorize there is a connection between the skins released in Crew Packs and the theme of the subsequent Season’s Battle Pass.
Fans of Fortnite have recently connected the dots and speculated a connection between Crew Packs and the theme of the subsequent Battle Pass released on Epic Games’ free-to-play battle royale. The Crew Pack is a monthly subscription add-on introduced in December 2020, at the beginning of Fortnite’s Chapter 2 – Season 5. For $11.99 a month, it includes an exclusive skin and accessory, 1000 V-Bucks, and the current season battle pass.
Operating as a free-to-play battle royale, most of Epic Games’ revenue for the immensely successful Fortnite comes from player cosmetics which can be purchased with real-life-currency. Players who are willing to open their wallets are able to customise almost every single aspect of their characters to their liking, from purchasable skins for their characters to weapon skins, emotes, dances, sprays, and gliders. For players not sold on the in-universe characters, Fortnite has also previously teamed up with popular franchises, some of the most notable being Marvel, Tomb Raider, Halo, Star Wars, and The Terminator.

Fortnite sleuths have recently discovered a connection between the Crew Packs and the skins released for the following Battle Pass. As reported by FortniteINTEL on Twitter, the fan theory is that all previous skins released with the Crew Pack have been connected to the corresponding season’s theme, with the connections starting during the Season 3 Battle Pass. Looking at the accompanying evidence, it’s hard to dismiss the theory.
The image by FortniteINTEL shows the connections supporting their theory, starting with the Galaxia skin in the December Crew Pack, which was then followed up with a space-themed Season 3 Battle Pass. Afterwards, the superhero Green Arrow was the skin for January’s Crew Pack, which was followed by a superhero-themed Season 4 Battle Pass. This theory has led fans to believe that the Season 8 Battle Pass theme will be discernible from the May Crew Pack’s skin. Since the Chapter 1 season was pirate-themed, players are speculating it will either be pirate-themed or bring back everyone’s favorite banana, Peely.
Reactions to the potential theme from fans have been mixed, with some excitement for more Peely skins, while others insist there are enough skins already. Since a Peely skin “Potassius Peels” was recently released in March, fans believe it will be unlikely that another Peely skin would be released so soon after. While there has been a mixed reception to some of the previous crew packs, it would no doubt be difficult to please all 350 million of Fortnite’s player base. While the theory about Season 8 undoubtedly has evidence behind it, fans will have to wait until May to find out.
