Erica was born in 1987 in Utah. She had one sister, Alexis, and two brothers, Quinn and Spencer. When Erica was quite young, her family relocated to Iowa, and then Missouri. After graduating high school, Erica went to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Utah and met her husband, Daryl Anthony Means, better known as Tony Means. They later got married in 2007 during their sophomore year of college. They had their first child, Landon, in 2008. A few months later, Erica became aware of her husband’s cancer diagnosis. Regardless of having a child and Tony’s cancer, they both completed their degrees at BYU.
Tony went on to be a teacher at the LDS church where he held seminary classes. Erica became a stay-at-home mom to care for Landon and the other six children they shared. Tony and Erica’s battle to fight cancer was a long one. In fact, Erica documented their experience on her blog, Moments and Miracles. She started the blog in March 2016 and wrote 50 articles.
