Chat with Alexa without saying wake words every time

Alexa is not always known as conversational. When you constantly have to say “Alexa” for every single task – even a few seconds – it can be frustrating. Fortunately, Voice Assistant is getting an upgrade called Natural Turn-Taking that lets you chat with Alexa every five seconds without saying it.

You will be able to activate Alexa’s conversational mode by saying “Alexa, join our conversation”. Many people will be able to speak by speaking voice words without a voice assistant. You can also interrupt. Amazon showed an example of two people ordering pizza, both speaking back and forth with Alexa to order the size of the pizza.

Teach Alexa new tricks

You will soon be able to teach Alexa with a new feature called Interactive Teaching. If Alexa is not sure what you are asking to do this, it will start asking you questions about what you want to do.

For example, if you ask Alexa to set the living room light to wind-down mode, it will say, “I don’t know what wind-down mode is. Can you teach me?” You can then tell the voice assistant that wind-down mode means dimming the lights. The next time you ask Alexa to act, it will remember what to do.

Alexa can delete all voice interactions

Last year, Amazon added a setting that tells you Delete what you said. This year, Amazon announced that you can now delete every conversation you have with Alexa with just one command. To do this, simply “Alexa, delete what I’ve said.”

First, you have to delete all conversations with the voice assistant by going to the Alexa app privacy settings.
