Erin Napier Opened Up About Having Her Daughter
- Erin and Ben Napier welcomed their daughter Helen, 2, in January 2018, less than a week before the premiere of season 2 of their hit series HGTV Hometown.
- The couple learned shortly before having Helen that it was “not likely” that Erin would have children.
Erin and Ben Napier cannot imagine life without their precious two-year-old daughter, Helen. But for a while, the stars of HGTV Hometown the series thought they could never have a biological child.
After diagnosing Erin’s perforated appendix, she was told that she was “not likely” to have children.
“I desperately wanted a family. So it was a difficult place to live. It was really difficult,” says Erin. People magazine in a new interview. “And then when it happened, it looked like this huge outing. Like, ‘Well, I don’t have to worry about it anymore – this decision was made for me. So it’s on its way.’ “
“And then it was just joy,” adds Erin. “It was just an absolute joy and it was a wonderful experience and I don’t know what our life would be like without [Helen] in her. “
The news that Erin was pregnant with Helen was a surprise to the couple, although very welcome.
“We were doing a TV show,” says Ben of the couple’s hit series, Hometown, who recently finished his fourth season. “Having children was not a priority for us at the time; we were not trying to have children or anything. As Erin said, this decision was made for us. But yes, [Helen] is just great. “

The couple says they haven’t decided yet if they want to try to have more children. In fact, they could leave the decision to fate.
“It was a surprise the first time, [so] I think it will also be a surprise next time, ”said Erin.
For now, the happy couple are enjoying every moment with little Hélène.
“It’s a sweet moment,” said Erin. “I wish she could be two years old forever.”
