she has done. Elon Musk is the richest person in the world. And not just temporarily. Elon will certainly remain the world’s richest person, at least for the entire day, except for some major drop in Tesla’s share price. As I write this article, Elon Musk has total assets of $ 186 billion. This is $ 1 billion more than Jeff Bezos’ total assets of $ 185 billion.
You may have noticed that earlier today we posted an article stating that Elon was the richest person in the world. When the market opened today, Amazon briefly came in at $ 3,155 while Tesla popped up from $ 755 to $ 794. At the time, Elon was technically the world’s wealthiest person. But soon Amazon bounced back and Tesla dipped back into $ 780, securing the crown for Jeff Bezos.
According to our estimates, with her 11% stake in Amazon, as long as Amazon stock remains in the $ 3,200 range, Elon will need Tesla to become the world’s richest person. As I write this, Amazon is at $ 3,198 and Tesla is at $ 806.
World’s most richest person
Elon Musk is the fifth person to have topped the world’s richest person in the last 25 years. The other four are:
- Bill Gates
- Warren Buffett
- Carlos Slim Helu
- Jeff bezos
Going back to 1995, Bill Gates held the top spot from 1995 to 2007 without interruption. Warren Buffett crowned for 2008. Gates withdrew it for 2009 when Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim Helu took the top spot from 2010 to 2013. Bill Gates was the wealthiest person from 2014 to July 2017 when he first surpassed Jeff Bezos. Bezos and Gates traded back and forth for a few months, then Jeff Bezos was king from October 2017 until today.
Today, Elon Musk wears a crown.
