The Far Future Legendary Sniper Rifle is a seasonal weapon in Destiny 2: Season of the Chosen. Players can get it from the new Battlegrounds activity.
Like previous seasons of Destiny 2, Season of the Chosen includes new seasonal Legendary weapons for players to unlock and use in PVP and PVE. The Far Future Legendary Energy Sniper Rifle is a middle-of-the-road offering similar in stats to the Adored Sniper Rifle from Season of the Hunt. Far Future has 70 Impact, 53 Range, 53 Stability, 47 Handling, 48 Reload Speed, and 90 Rounds per Minute with 4 in the Magazine. There are a few ways for players to obtain one, but of these, completing Battlegrounds activities is the most reliable. Destiny 2 fans can modify this weapon from a large pool of Perks for one of several God Rolls.

To access the Far Future Sniper Rifle, players will need to expend one Hammer of Proving Charge or target it with Umbral Engrams. Far Future is technically a random drop, so players may have to complete a few Battlegrounds activities before they get their hands on one. However, it is fairly easy to get compared to other Legendary weapons and is a good option for any player’s arsenal. Here’s how to get the Far Future Legendary Energy Sniper Rifle in Destiny 2 and possible God Rolls for both PVP and PVE.
How to Get Far Future in Destiny 2
Destiny 2 fans can get the Far Future Legendary Sniper Rifle most easily from the loot crates at the end of Battlegrounds. After beating the boss, they will need to use the Hammer of Proving to break open one of three available chests, expending one of their Hammer Charges, and the reward from these chests will almost always be a random piece of seasonal loot.
If players prefer, they can try to target Far Future by focusing Umbral Engrams. Selecting Chosen Arms for Tier 1 ensures rewards are limited to Season of the Chosen exclusive weapons. In Tier 2, players can choose Far and Fatal, and in Tier 3, they should choose Far-Flung Fatality. These last two options will only ever yield the Imperial Needle and Far Future.
It can be difficult to unlock the focus options needed for Tier 2 and Tier 3, and it costs more Hammer Charges to do so. While it may be easier to get Far Future from Battlegrounds, players who want to use Umbral Engrams and the Prismatic Recaster should consider waiting until they upgrade their H.E.L.M.
While Far Future can also randomly drop from completing other activities, including Crucible and Gambit Mode, these are unreliable, and the chances are far lower. Players who really want this sniper rifle should focus on Battlegrounds or using Umbral Engrams instead.
Possible God Rolls for Far Future in Destiny 2
Generally, Destiny 2 fans seem to agree Far Future is much better as a PVP weapon than a PVE one. There are God Rolls for each playstyle, however. Far Future is a decent weapon for new and seasoned players and can be used effectively in a variety of situations.
In PVE, players should be sure to take Fluted Barrel and Appended Mag to improve handling, stability, and magazine size. As primary perks, Surplus and Frenzy are the best options. Surplus will increase handling, reload speed, and stability, and Frenzy increases damage output. Some fans also prefer Auto Loading Holster, Tactical Magazine, Arrowhead Brake, and Thresh.
In PVP, the community generally agrees Quickdraw and Opening Shot are must-haves. Quickdraw is good for Sniper Rifles generally, and Opening Shot provides a bonus to accuracy to help players land a critical hit. Players should also consider Hammer-Forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds to improve range. It is possible to replace Quickdraw with Moving Target for similar results, as it allows a player to move in and out of cover. Players who tend to often use their abilities may also consider replacing Hammer-Forged Rifling or Accurized Rounds with Wellspring to gain ability energy on kills with Far Future.
