One of the advantages of Cinch Home Services is the breadth of items covered by its plans. Things like doorbells or smoke detectors aren’t often included in standard plans.
There are optional coverages available as add-ons such as pools and spas, septic systems, and well pumps, but prices are not advertised on the site.
Real estate projects
Cinch Home Services’ plans are also available to realtors and sellers, although there’s no mention of what might be different in realtors’ warranty plans or pricing on the site. They do, however, offer commercial real estate resources and optional commercial coverages with these plans.
Package pricing
Although Cinch Home Services plans offer a lot of value, they also charge a premium price for them. The package pricing depends a lot on your location in the country. We looked at prices from several states and found very different package prices. Those who live in more expensive areas can expect to pay more for their plans. However, if you are in an area that benefits from the low prices advertised on the website, Cinch proves very affordable. The $150 deductible is the highest in the industry, increasing your costs when you need service.
Optional add-ons
Coverage is also available for the following systems:
- swimming pools
- Spas
- Septic systems
- Well pumps
Pricing is available during the quote process and some information about these coverage options is available in the contract template as well as in the FAQ.
The Premier upgrade package is also available. This provides an additional $500 or $1,000 to cover charges otherwise not covered during warranty service. It can be used twice per deal with an overall limit of $1,000 or $2,000. It cannot apply to items or damage not covered by your plan.
Types of damage covered
All home warranties state that the damage covered only includes normal wear and tear, but Cinch Home Services says they cover slightly more than other companies, including
- Undetected pre-existing conditions
- Rust, corrosion and sediment
- Parts including handles, knobs and drawers
Plan exclusions
Cinch Home Services has many of the same exclusions as other home warranty companies such as:
- Performing Routine Maintenance
- Commercial grade devices
- Repairs or replacements covered by other warranties
- Subject to reminders
- Located outside the perimeter of the main structure
- Located in a detached garage
- Damaged during unauthorized renovation or repair
- Damage due to misuse or negligence
- Damage to pets and animals
- Damage caused by fire, flood, earthquake, smoke, flooding, etc.
- And much more
As always, read the contract carefully to understand what is covered and what is not.
Ceilings and payment limits
Cinch Home Services uses an aggregated model for payments. While there are specific caps on individual devices or systems, typically $1,500 to $2,000, there is also a $10,000 maximum for all claims.
Repair times
When disaster strikes and you need to make a claim, Cinch Home Services offers some of the fastest response times in the industry. If the claim is made within business hours, they promise to find a service technician within two hours. If it’s after hours, they work to find one within 24 hours. You can make service requests 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Customer service and complaints
Cinch Home Services offers online, email and phone support. Their digital dashboard offers a simple and streamlined way to file a claim, pay bills, and track progress. Once on the website, clicking “Request Service” takes you through a series of questions to diagnose your needs and trigger a service call. Customer service is available by phone and email 24 hours a day.
Client satisfaction
Cinch Home Services receives mixed reviews online with 3.0 out of 5 stars from over 2,000 reviews.
Competition: Cinch Home Services vs. Choice Home Warranty
We compared Cinch Home Services to Choice Home Warranty. Both companies offer simplified plans with broad coverage.
Choice Home Guarantee | Cinch home services | |
---|---|---|
Number of packages available | 2 | 3 |
Trustpilot Ratings | 3.0/5 from over 2,000 reviews | 3.9/5 on over 28,000 reviews |
Service charge | $85 | $150 |
States covered | All states except California | All states except Alaska and Hawaii |
Although service fees are higher at Cinch Home Services, their plans cover more items and more parts than Choice Home Warranty, making them a clear winner.
Verdict
Cinch Home Services seems to be trying to streamline the concept of home warranties, offering easy-to-use technology interfaces to cover more of what people need, like handles, drawers, and even rust.
Their promise to cover undetected pre-existing conditions could be invaluable, and their payments per item are on par with the industry. While every home warranty agreement requires a thorough review, Cinch Home Services seems transparent and upfront. If they can increase their customer satisfaction scores and simplify their pricing structure, they could be a solid choice for in-home warranty service.
Questions and answers
How do I file a complaint with Cinch Home Services?
You can file a complaint by calling their customer service number or by submitting a complaint online.
What does the plan cover?
There are three plans available: Appliances, Integrated Systems, and Complete Home, which includes both. All three plans cover breakage and failure due to normal wear and tear.
Can you cancel the plan for free?
You can only cancel for free within the first 30 days and if no complaints have been made. If a claim has been made or more than 30 days have passed since your coverage began, you can still cancel, but charges will apply. Details can be found in the contract. If you find yourself in this situation, it would be advisable to discuss the cancellation with a customer service representative to find out exactly how much you will be charged. This way you can decide if it makes more sense to pay the cancellation fee or just pay the rest of your warranty contract until it expires.
Methodology
There are several aspects to consider when evaluating a home warranty company and its coverages. To help you in your decision-making process, our home warranty review methodology includes a quantified scoring system that assesses four broad categories: total plan cost, coverage and support, personalization, and transparency. Within these four main review categories, we look at 18 main features which include annual plan fees and service charges, claim response times, payment caps, available states, contract length range, customizable coverages, ability to use your own repairer, free cancellation, plan pricing, plan exclusions and other plan provisions available online. We assign fractional score values ranging from 0.00 to 1.00 points for each feature, then weight those feature values based on advice from subject matter experts and the importance ranking of the customer survey. consumers. We also compare each company’s characteristics to industry average values determined from our data collection for the top 25 home warranty providers. Third-party reviews and customer satisfaction scores are considered to help assess the overall quality, suitability, and value of a home warranty company.
