Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are no closer to settling their divorce after nearly five years of separation and filing for divorce. The two actors began dating in 2005, soon after Brad and Jennifer Aniston split up. They married in 2014 and separated in 2016. Therefore, the former couple were together for a total of 11 years.
They have been fighting it in court for almost five years. Recently, legal experts familiar with the case revealed that the divorce case could last for the next six years. If so, Pitt and Jolie would have spent years ending their relationship as they did in their relationship. At the top, their divorce is on its way to becoming the most expensive divorce in terms of legal fees in the entire history of Hollywood divorce. Pitt and Jolie have already spent more than $ 1 million in legal bills so far.
Pitt and Jolie have six children. Somehow, after years of negotiations and legal discourses, he is yet to decide on the custody of his five children, who are still minors.
They have also not reached any agreement on how to split their incredible multi-million dollar fortune. Jolie allegedly sold a painting by Winston Churchill while Brad gave it to her as a gift while they were still together. The painting sold for $ 11.5 million at an auction in London in early March. It is believed that Jolie sold it to obtain funding for an ongoing legal battle with her ex.
Pitt filed for divorce in September 2016, so it marks the five-year anniversary of their initial split. It is one of the longest celebrity divorce battles in history. The two seem to have sworn never-ending swearing at each other and have no real desire to compromise or come to the colony.
As the case progresses, their legal bills increase. Both have hired lawyers ranging from $ 1,000 to $ 1,500 per hour and those lawyers are likely to spend 40 to 50 hours a week on a Pitt Jolly divorce.
The former spouse hired a private judge who billed $ 1,000 per hour and spent an estimated $ 10,000 a day. It would not be far-fetched to say that it would cost the former couple $ 50,000 and an additional $ 10,000 to review prior legal documentation during a five-day trial hearing. This can cost them close to $ 500,000 at a fairly early end.
Jolie’s sale of the painting was seen as a sign that the former couple may be close to settling legal issues between them. But divorce lawyers are a more cynical over the sale of the painting – perhaps he sold it to get more money for his legal fees to keep the artists roaring.
The fact on the issue is that Angelina reportedly wants sole custody of her children. Brad is not on board with that plan.
If the former couple and by this, we mean that Angelina actually refrains from keeping Brad in shared custody, then she could drag the case for six more years. At the time, his youngest children, Knox and Vivienne, were 18 years old.
Another sticking point in the Pitt Jolie divorce is his Chatu Miraval residence in France. When they bought it in 2008, the palace and vineyard were valued at $ 67 million. This is their 2014 wedding site. Therefore it was purchased before being legally married. So if we say, Pitt bought it and then added Jolie to the title of the property – it makes it very complicated. With the property being in France, it complicates things right now.
Something tells us, it is far from over.
