Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for a special and extended multi-part cut of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, complete with never-before-seen footage from the critically acclaimed sequel. As was the case with the first film, the official title is also a bit unnecessarily long, with the new special called Additional Borat Reports retrieved from the floor of the Edit Machine containing the Stable. The Extended Cut is coming soon, and you can watch the official trailer below.
Promoting the trailer, a tweet from the official Twitter account of Borat reads: “The great nation of Kazakhstan sees Snydercut and presents the US and A with the longest name for a special: Additional Borat Reports retrieved from the floor of the Edit Machine containing the Stable. Soon, chenqui! “
Additional Borat Reports retrieved from the floor of the Edit Machine containing the Stable features unused footage filmed during the production of Borat 2 which was cut from the final version. This includes previously unseen footage of Sacha Baron Cohen in the character of Borat as well as revealing some of the dangers and high-level acts that went into the creation of the sequel. Also included are new footage of Borat’s closed house with Jim and Jerry, the roommates Baron Cohen (as Borat) lived with for several days during the height of the pandemic.
Originally published on Amazon Prime Video in 2020, Next movie Borat serves as a direct sequel to the years 2006 Borat: Cultural Lessons from America for the Benefit of the Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. The sequel brings Sacha Baron Cohen back as Kazakh journalist and fictional TV personality Borat Sagdiyev and follows him as he attempts to offer his daughter (Maria Bakalova) as a wife to Vice President Mike Pence. Bakalova was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role with Borat 2 also for the best suited scenario.
The film also sparked controversy upon release due to an appearance by Rudy Giuliani. In a staged interview, Giuliani was tricked into believing that Bakalova was a journalist, and at one point during the interaction, the lawyer can be seen putting his hands in front of his pants. In character, Baron Cohen then bursts into the room, much to Giuliani’s surprise. Giuliani then condemned Baron Cohen and the film, claiming he was just undoing his shirt and accusing the filmmakers of trying to get him dirty.
“I would say if the president’s lawyer found what he did there, appropriate behavior, then heaven knows what he did with other women journalists in hotel rooms,” Baron Cohen said on Hello america at the time. “It is what it is. He did what he did.”
“I have always felt safe with our team, with our crew, with Sacha in my corner,” added Bakalova. “In fact, I never felt I was in danger. That’s why I’m lucky, because I had them.”
Additional Borat Reports retrieved from the floor of the Edit Machine containing the Stable is listed as “coming soon” on Amazon Prime Video. In the meantime, you can watch the original cut of Next movie Borat now on the streaming service. The new trailer comes to us from Amazon Prime Video on YouTube.
