Bill And Melinda Gates Buy $43 Million Beachfront Home Near San Diego
Bill and Melinda gates have a lot on their plate right now, with a global pandemic like the one they have been preparing for (and warning the world about) for years now, but that hasn’t stopped them from digging again near the water. Wall Street newspaper reports that the couple bought an oceanfront home in Del Mar, California, near San Diego, for $ 43 million – which happens to be “one of the largest deals in the region.”
It’s even if the Gateses got a little deal on the house, as it was previously listed with an asking price of $ 48 million, obtaining a $ 5 million rebate from the former owners of the house: Madeleine Pickens, ex-wife of the late oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens.
The house spans over 5,800 square feet, and one of its most impressive amenities is the jacuzzi with enough room for ten people at a time. Unfortunately, the visual materials on the house seem to be a bit sparse, but it would also have a fireplace near the jacuzzi, an outdoor deck facing the ocean, and a swimming pool.
Bill and Melinda Gates have long called their large complex in Medina, Washington, but their recent purchase of Del Mar is just the latest addition to their impressive real estate portfolio. It is also not their first purchase in California, because, in 2014, they would have bought a vast equestrian ranch property in Rancho Santa Fe from food guru Jenny Craig for $ 18 million.
