Add some avocado, coconut oil and a splash of apple cider vinegar to it and you can create personalized DIY treatments that primarily aim to nourish the scalp – which, according to Mensah, is where all healthy hair begins.

Here, Mensah presents 5 of his favorite recipes to give your hair a natural vitality. (As with any beauty treatment, before applying always make a 24-hour skin test to identify any allergens).

1. Egg and olive oil mask

Egg yolks can be extremely moisturizing because it contains fat. The yolk stimulates hair growth and helps protect and repair damaged hair. It’s a balm ideal for i dry hair.

You need:

Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour

Preparation and application:

    In a bowl, mix the egg yolk, the olive oil and the mongongo oil until a homogeneous mixture is obtained

    Add a spoonful of water to facilitate the application

    Divide the hair into four parts and start applying the mixture. Concentrate on lengths and on the tips

    When you have sprinkled the mixture all over your head, cover it with one shower cap

  5. 5

    Leave on for 30 minutes

    Rinse the mask with a mild shampoo and finish with the conditioner. Remember to wash your hair withcold water – prevents the egg from cooking!

Coconut oil is an excellent conditioner that works wonders with prolonged use. Contains fatty acids with penetrative properties that help nourish and treat hair from the inside.

You need:

Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour

Preparation and application:

    Heat both oils for a few seconds to cool them down

    Start massaging the skin and gradually go down the lengths to the tips

  3. 3

    Make sure to focus on the tips, which are the ones that need to be treated the most

    When you have sprinkled the oils all over your head, wrap a warm towel around it and wait 45 minutes

    Proceed with washing the hair with cold water and a mild shampoo. Finish with a balm.

3. Shea butter and avocado mask

Shea butter is a conditioner that moisturizes and cares for the scalp. It is made from African shea nut and is an excellent aid for controlling the hair loss. Shea butter works well on the hair afro and curly, tame the crepe and reduces split ends. It also protects and hydrates the hair lifeless turning it into beautiful hair.

You need:

  • 1 tablespoon of shea butter

  • 2 spoons of coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon of Charlotte Mensah’s Manketti Hair Oil

  • half avocado

Time: 30 to 45 minutes

Preparation and application:

    Heat the coconut oil and shea butter until a smooth mixture is obtained

    Add the mongong oil and avocado, and mix all the ingredients well until you get a homogeneous mixture

    Divide the hair into four parts. Apply the mixture to the hair, from the roots to the tips

  4. 4

    When all hair is covered, leave the mask on for 30 minutes

  5. 5

    Proceed with washing with cold water and a mild shampoo.

4. Soap shampoo

This homemade shampoo keeps hair soft and hydrated. It is more watery than commercial shampoos will not make much foam – but will thoroughly cleanse your hair.

You need:

Time: 5 to 10 minutes

Preparation and application:

    Mix the ingredients in a bowl and put them in a jar

    Fill the palm of your hand with shampoo and then rinse with hot water.

Apple cider vinegar is excellent for a natural rinse. Not only does it make hair softer but it also facilitates combing tangled hair, preventing them from breaking.

    Put the baking soda in an empty jar or bottle
