At home with Fashion: the music playlists to listen to at home

At home with Fashion: In these long days so monotonous, with human contacts reduced to a minimum, marked by a new routine that has revolutionized the lives of the whole world, we understood that among the few remaining points we have there is, without any doubt, music. There music as an escape tool, inexhaustible source of pleasure and emotions, a means of spiritual elevation and meditation.

At home with Fashion
At home with Fashion

The music we like makes us feel good, improves mood, promotes happiness. It is also good for health, because it releases dopamine in the brain and stimulates the immune system, as well as reducing anxiety and stress. In conclusion, music is exactly what we really need today.

But if nobody, in this difficult period, can renounce the relief and emotions that he gives us and continues to give us music – even if within the home – for each of us the soundtrack of this lockdown will obviously be different. What are the songs that cheer us up the most? What are the new artists we have discovered in this period, and which are we deepening our knowledge of, now that we have, willingly or unwillingly, more time to listen?

We asked some of our favorite artists to prepare a playlist for the Fashion Italia Spotify channel. Starting today, and on a daily basis, each musician will tell us how the quarantine period is going, and will share his playlist with us #AtHomeWithVogue. Enjoy!

GIORGIA ANGIULI

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I am in Florence and I am fortunate to have a studio that allows me to create music every day.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss travel a lot, the warmth of the audience and the energies of live shows. The first thing I would like to do is a walk without a mask, to embrace my friends and family.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
On May 29, a single will come out that has a special value for me, it will be called United and the proceeds associated with the sale of the song will be donated to WHO for research. I started recording piano agreements and I put the project online, asking all interested producers to write parts to finish the song. I received many files with beautiful ideas and my friend Cioz, a producer from Bergamo, helped me in the selection and arrangement. After this wonderful experience I decided to open a label called United.

VIBRATIONS

How are you going through these lockdown days?
(Francesco Sarcina) I am a playboy, and in pre-lockdown everyday life I was really going out compulsively. So initially it was a shock: I don’t think I was so much at home even as a child! After the first week, however, I had an existential awakening. I realized how nice it is to stay home, and I enjoyed a lot of things I had forgotten: books, records and vinyls. And above all, I started writing a lot again!

Francesco Sarcina (The Vibrations) © Chiara Mirelli

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
Definitely my children: I miss them to death! Right now my little daughter is in Sicily. She has been with me for a long time, but I miss the constancy with which I saw her before: this thing is stripping me. And another thing that is obviously missing a lot from me is playing live. As soon as possible I will definitely want to see my children again. For live music, unfortunately, it will take longer.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
Actually, I’m working more during this quarantine than when I’m on tour! As I said I am writing many songs: despite the down that can create the situation I feel in a very creative phase! I greatly introject the future and the past, and I must say that I live this time bubble pretty well. I also started many important collaborations: a featuring came out with Irama and today “But the sky is always blue” was announced, the beautiful project by Dardust, Takagi and Ketra in which I will also participate. I also made some filming for May Day, with all the necessary precautions and permits. We went to the Fabrique to record and it was crazy: you see your family – the band and the technicians – and you start playing without being able to embrace you again. And I even started writing a book: it’s a biographical and temporal path, but I can’t reveal much more to you!

MARIANNE MIRAGE

How are you going through these lockdown days?
At home in Milan alone with my 2 little fishes Molly and Barracuda.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
Play live. As soon as possible, I want to walk barefoot on the grass.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
This quarantine made me write many songs full of new energy!

TOMMASO PARADISO

How are you going through these lockdown days?
Fortunately, I live it well. I am a homely, methodical and habitual type, I love home walls. I was able to take advantage of these lockdown periods to recharge the batteries, which proved to be useful for staying a bit at home with my family and resting.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
Dinners with friends. As soon as possible, I will definitely go to the beach!

New projects coming out or are you working on?
Even during these days of lockdown the work does not stop. I am continuing to work remotely with my collaborators to complete the new album and in parallel also my first film. I recently concluded the screenplay for the latter and all that remains is to start shooting.

COMA COSE

How are you going through these lockdown days?
We are trying to transform this “cloister” into something purposeful, first of all we are working hard on new songs, making music gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a parallel world and the imagination travels until the moment when an audition done at home in living room will become something to sing with the public at a concert. And this makes us feel less alone.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
We lack the “small” things of everyday life, walking around the city, having a coffee at the bar, friends, the office and even business meetings. We lack the variety of things, the pauses where you breathe a little more slowly to catch your breath and start again; we miss a candlelit pizza, a beer on a bench and we need to change the wardrobe to find a denim jacket with which to protect ourselves from the fresh air of spring evenings.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
We have just released TWO, a mini-ep with a couple of songs and carambolescamente these songs, although obviously not foreseen, dealing with issues such as loneliness and anger adapt perfectly to these “strange” days we are living. This thing is also manifesting with the affection of the fans who are consuming the songs and they do not fail to make us feel their support. At the moment, however, we are already working on what will be our new LP. There are many ideas on the table, it will be a long journey of research and synthesis but we are sure of one thing … It will be something different, there is a great desire to evolve but obviously without forcibly distorting our distinctive characteristics, this is precisely the balance that we are looking for … We are not interested in making a record, we are interested in making about ten songs that are perfectly incredible for us.

GAIA

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I have been in Rome since the program ended. I preferred to stay here for health security reasons. I’m still doing well though, I’m happy. I make music, eat and sleep, the perfect routine.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss having the freedom to walk aimlessly, to embrace people, to play concerts and go see them. As soon as everything ends I will go back to my family, I will kiss them, a lot. And then a pizza together, I don’t need anything else.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
On May 22nd the physical album, ‘New Genesis’, will be released, with some additional tracks. I am preparing the tour and the promotion in the store, with the hope that they can go to port if the situation improves. Meanwhile, he continued to write (and eat).

LUCIO CORSI

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I am spending this period in the Maremma, fortunately in the countryside. I am fortunate to have only olive fields around. I noticed that the shade trees work even without anyone turning them on (unlike the light poles). I also noticed that the houses are spaceships (they have seats, switches and windows to look outside), but nobody knows how they turn on even if they have the keys.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss the show, the concert nights.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
I’m trying to make the most of this quarantine period, which means writing new things. It is not easy to compose in this situation but I am trying to be on the piano.

FRANCESCA MICHIELIN

How are you going through these lockdown days?
The days pass between the online lessons of the Conservatory – where I study jazz singing – writing, my music, washing machines, my favorite TV series and listening to many records, especially on vinyl. I tried to establish a daily routine to have a productive but stress-free rhythm, allowing myself moments of relaxation and reflection.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I believe that what I miss most is hugs, going out with my friends, contact with the public, walking in the open air. My latest album is based precisely on sharing, on the relationship with nature, on the community, all essential elements for personal growth. As soon as possible, I would like to go to the beach, to breathe a bit of clean air and to enjoy a few carefree days with my dearest affections. In this period I learned to appreciate more and more the simple things and the importance they have in my life.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
Last March 13 I decided to release my new album FEAT (STATE OF NATURE) and shortly thereafter also the videoclip of Monolocale, the piece with Fabri Fibra, because I thought that at a time like this the music should go on, because music unites, it is good for the heart. At the moment the next confirmed stage is my concert at the Carroponte, on September 20th. I look forward to that moment, which I have always imagined as a big party in the Milanese temple of urban music and which could now take on an even more important meaning.

TOOTH

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I am in Milan in the house where I have lived for 15 years. I am with my girlfriend, so I do not suffer from loneliness, isolation is never pleasant but it is certainly sweeter. I am fortunate to have a piano at home and a small studio in the cellar and therefore I am playing a lot. I am not writing these days but I play, I train. Then I read, that I have a lot of backlog books that I can’t wait to start.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss traveling, I had a scheduled tour that was due to leave in March and we postponed it in the fall. I really wanted to go around and play, to meet friends scattered around the peninsula and the people who would come to hear me, I can’t wait to leave. The first thing I will do when the restrictions ease will be a long walk in the city, very long. I want to walk until I can’t stand it anymore.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
Just before the lockdown I was shooting a video, they are external images and therefore the work stopped a step away from closing. I keep working on it with my mind.

Heir

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I’m having a lockdown with my boyfriend Michael in London, at home like everyone else.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
The first thing I will do is simply walk around without a destination. And as soon as it will be possible to take a flight to go and hug my loved ones in Naples.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
My very first EP Daddy Issues saw the sunlight in quarantine, it was a different launch from the others, but I will remember it for life. And now all I do is work on new music in quarantine. I think we all have different awareness today, so there is a lot to write about.

COEZ

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I spent the first three weeks writing, now I jumped on heavy streaming. It takes me so long to do the things I was in a hurry before, such as cooking.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I think the thing I miss most is going to run in the park, I train a lot at home but clearly it’s not the same thing. Nothing striking, and I hope that when there are fewer restrictions, people have a minimum of decorum and do not exaggerate with the celebrations, needless to say, I can’t wait to go back to the concerts.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
Well I certainly had plans at stake like everyone else, but now it’s all on standby. We must recalibrate and straighten the shot, it is certainly difficult to go blind.

VICAR MARGHERITA

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
The thing I miss most is being able to do concerts, go to Turin to work closely with my producer. The first thing I will do is take the scooter and go and hug my grandmother whom I haven’t seen for two months and then I hope to be able to go and visit my two grandchildren who will be born in May in the hospital.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
I am working on the video of a new song that will be released soon. And I’m organizing a home recording studio, because you have to continue living and not wait to start doing it again.

Irama

How are you going through these lockdown days?
At home, as it should be. Normally I am an overactive person and the thought of the forced arrest there and then frightened me a little … Then I discovered that I had a lot of things to do, without frenzy: reading, having time to think … And then new music.

Irama © Lorenzo Galli. Styling: Simone Rutigliano

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
The thing I miss most is also the thing I love most: it’s the life of the tour. Always in different places, with friends, with my band members … I miss concerts, direct contact with people. So I think the first thing I will do is to reschedule future lives.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
I practically completed a new album, which took me a long time, but which I am also very satisfied with. In fact, I think I managed to express myself with absolute sincerity in it. So first I’m going to release a single, and then to follow the album.

MALIKA AYANE

How are you going through these lockdown days?
Mood dancers, small intentions achievable every day and I learn the art of forgiving myself for not being perfect.

Malika Ayane © Oskar Cecere

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I have two fixed thoughts. The first is to race in the Le Mans type garage, jump in my jeep and run for lunch at the beach dressed like an Oscar. The second is a three-day party at Baden Powell park with all the friends I haven’t seen for a long time. Three days of celebration. For the first time, Navigli residents will make more noise than visitors.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
I am writing new things that I find very beautiful. This moment of obligatory recollection allows me to take the time to understand what to do and how to do it.

Venerus

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I’m going through this quarantine living in my girlfriend’s house. She makes clothes and I make my music. Fortunately, he lives 200 meters from my studio and therefore I still manage to slip in and work on my things, even though I am very affected by not having input from the outside, which is normally the lifeblood of my inspiration. I am experimenting with new creative methods and producing a lot of music …

Venerus © Marta Marinotti and Floriani Federico

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
The thing I miss most is literally being around .. As much as you love being in the studio working and making music, I always need to disconnect, get into situations, to ‘waste time’, to meet people … As soon as I can I think I will prepare a backpack with a change, I will go up and be around without going home for as long as possible, going from one situation to another, from one city to another … I am already starting to organize meetings around Italy haha

New projects coming out or are you working on?
Top secret!

JOAN THIELE

How are you going through these lockdown days?
Right now I am in my little house in Milan, which I would now call an “artistic residence”, given the presence of canvases and brushes by my boyfriend, who being an artist, moved his studio to the living room. On one side the canvases and on the other my instruments. The third roommate is Fausto, my dog. We are not having such a bad time after all. It’s a tough time but I’m trying to devote myself as much as possible to what I love.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
Well, I really miss my family, which is divided between Italy and Colombia, and my friends. I miss all the little things that I took for granted, like taking a walk in Porta Venezia or having breakfast in the morning in the house. My place in the heart of Milan is the planetarium and I often went there. As soon as all this ends, the first thing I hope I will do is go to a concert. I miss this very much (maybe even mine :)).

New projects coming out or are you working on?
There are several projects I’m working on, all coming out in September. A great passion of mine besides music is drawing, and I am very happy because I collaborated in small capsules that you will hear about in a little while. In the meantime, I’m finishing my new album and I can’t wait to let you hear it :)

NUCLEAR TACTICAL PENGUINS

How are you going through these lockdown days?
(Riccardo) I am spending the days of “seclusion” with some friends: my musical instruments. I live alone in a very large house and consequently boredom is around the corner, even if we often video friends and family during the day. When boredom or sadness come, I take the guitar or go to the piano: I am writing many songs. As the English say: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Nuclear Tactical Penguins

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss one thing more than the rest: playing with others. Live shows, rehearsals, set-ups, studio sessions. I miss that relationship that is created when making music together, indescribable unless you have tried it. Alchemy, harmony … and then of course I miss going out with friends, clubs and restaurants. I think we will all reevaluate things from life that we took for granted before this quarantine.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
As I said, I’m writing new songs, even if it’s not easy. Usually to write a song I have to live something first and then process it through writing, but these days I am not living many new experiences: I am always at home. However, I am trying to imagine myself out of here, in many different situations: by the sea or in the mountains, in a high school or in a shelter for the elderly. I pretend to live other lives and see what comes of it. I have never written this way. We’ll see!

ELODIE

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I am in Milan, at my boyfriend’s house, mine is much smaller, here we each have our own space and in a situation like the one we have been living for almost a month now, having extra meters in which to spend the days is a great privilege.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
Freedom that for me is synonymous with sociality. Being in contact with people, comparing, chatting, spending time together, eating together, being among people, all this is part of my nature. My strength lies in the relationship with the other and now that this relationship is not there, I am experiencing this privation with suffering. As soon as possible I will go back to making music, which for me is not just work but it is above all life, it is my energy, my stimulus. Going back to dealing with it, working on my projects, singing in the studio and meeting those who follow me, means going back to being myself, free and happy.

New projects coming out or are you working on?
There should have been my first two lives in April, one in Milan and the other in Rome. It was all postponed to September 30 for Milan and October 3 for Rome … I’m sorry but I know that nothing is lost, simply postponed for a few months for the protection of all. When everything stopped I was in full promo album, I had many surprises planned for the fans, which remained on stand by, as soon as we will be given the opportunity to return to the opera, I will be able to reveal them. When I listen to a lot of music and work on me, I am also singing lessons via streaming so as not to waste time and stay “trained”, the voice is a very powerful instrument but it needs a lot of care and training.

FRAH QUINTALE

How are you going through these lockdown days?
At the moment I went back to live a few days in the studio to continue working on the record. I’m completely alone, so I’m mainly dedicating myself to my projects. In addition to music, in my spare time I am doing some sport at home and I am trying to take advantage of loneliness to do some meditation.

Frah Quintale © Tommaso Biagetti

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I definitely miss the brothers of Undamento! Among other things, before all this mess broke out, I was about to move house: but given the situation I was stuck with the move and everything else. So I think the first thing I will do is move house and have a great party with my friends. I also have a great desire to spend an afternoon in the park.

Projects coming out or are you working on?
We are working on the new album but I still can’t spoil that much. I have high expectations and a little fear even if I think it’s normal: the important thing is to throw yourself. We hope well!

MADAME

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I am spending these days at my house with my parents, although most of the time I lock myself in the room. I love being alone with my films and books!

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss my friends more than anything in the world, I miss the recording studio from Bias and my “crush“.

Projects coming out or are you working on?
A record!

GIORGIO POI

How are you going through these lockdown days?
I am at my house in Bologna with my girlfriend. I would have a lot of time to write, read, do something constructive, but for some reason now I can’t, I have difficulty concentrating. I think it’s due to the situation.

What do you miss most? What will be the first thing you do as soon as possible?
I miss having the opportunity to make short-term plans. There was a whole future lexicon that inhabited our daily conversations, and which has now suddenly disappeared. They were the talks about our programs, where to eat, whether to go to the cinema or not, whether to see friends or stay home. There is only one question left: what do we eat? All the rest is taken for granted: we stay at home. The first thing I will do when it comes out is to list all the options in a long sentence.

Projects coming out or are you working on?
I composed a soundtrack for a series that will be released soon.
