Private edition in 2021, the Alpe d’Huez Comedy Festival will take place this year. It kicked off last night, Monday January 17, 2022. An anniversary edition, which runs until January 23, and which should hold a few surprises!

First surprise, or rather unforeseen, the absence of the President of the jury Michèle Laroque, and one of the 5 members of the jury, the actor Malik Bentalha, both tested positive for Covid before leaving for the Festival. “Omicron has been there“, launched the presenter of the opening ceremony, Christophe Beaugrand.

To announce the news, a few hours before the ceremony, Michèle Laroque confirmed that she would take up the mission of President entrusted to her… by teleworking! Michèle Laroque and Malik Bentalha will watch the films as planned, but each confined to their homes, and will join the festival if possible. In any event, they will participate in the deliberations, remotely or on site.

Despite these two absentees, the atmosphere was festive and the joy of reunion for this opening evening, all with a protocol adapted to the health situation, with respect for barrier gestures, and wearing a mandatory mask. “Even if we are all careful, life goes on“, underlined Ruben Alves, member of the jury.

Michèle Laroque had reserved, remotely, a small surprise happening, via the dancer and choreographer Sofiane Chalal, inviting the whole Grand Palais to dance, that is to say a little more than 1000 characters following a choreography, on the lively Happy by Pharrell Williams.

Another surprise: the birthday celebrated on stage of the actress Mathilde Seigner, one of the members of the jury present on the spot, accompanied by Joséphine Japy (My Unknown) and the director Ruben Alves (The Golden Cage, Miss).

After the speeches, the joy of reunions, and the presentation in image of the films in selection this year (find the complete list below), the Alpe d’Huez Comedy Festival rolled out its red carpet to a first team of film, that of Super-heroes in spite of himself, the opening film out of competition of this edition.

Philippe Lacheau accompanied by Elodie Fontan, Tarek Boudali and Julien Arruti spoke about their very strong relationship with the Festival, recalling their debut with Babysitting in 2013. “This festival changed our lives” launched Philippe Lacheau. “This is where it all started for us“, completed Tarek Boudali.

For their return to the Festival, 3 years after Nicky Larson, Philippe Lacheau’s band unveiled their 5th feature film, a new adventure comedy, rooted in the world of superheroes and pop culture, Super-heroes despite him.

Superheroes in spite of himself will delight fans of superheroic films! This comedy is full of nods and easter eggs to Marvel films in particular. It is also more broadly a tribute to pop culture, references to the Goonies or Back to the Future also being to be detected! Philippe Lacheau has once again surrounded himself with his faithful band and welcomes several guests such as Rayane Bensetti, Chantal Ladesou or Regis Laspales. Released on February 2, 2022 in cinemas.
