7 Practical Tips to Make Gardening Easier

Gardening isn’t an easy task, especially if you’ve put a lot of effort into it. It won’t be long before you take care of the flower beds, pruning and doing all sorts of other gardening chores starts to feel tiring and overwhelming. The purpose of gardening is to make you feel happy, not very tired.

Ð To achieve this, you can adopt some clever tricks that will make the workflow easy. The following techniques aim to keep you sharp on gardening jobs while helping you conserve your energy.

Raised beds are a blessing

Whether it is wood (manufactured or normal), pavers or concrete blocks, you can bet that they will make your gardening efforts easy. You don’t have to worry about building raised beds yourself, as you will often see kits in large stores. What you need to remember is that the height of the raised bed should not be too large. A maximum of 40 inches is recommended. You must also make them at least 3-4 feet wide so that access to the center is not difficult.

Gardening in containers

The containers are also convenient for gardening purposes since you can practically place them at any appropriate height. You can put them on the ground or on a table, if it is more convenient for you. Weeding plants in containers are much easier than raised beds and you can even water them without too much trouble. Depending on the size of the container, you won’t have much trouble. It is worth checking the containers with wheels, as they are very easy to move.

Use only ergonomic tools

There is a wide range of tools available out there and you can make a choice to get the most convenient ones. For example, there are tools with smaller handles and such that are supplied with braces to protect the wrists. Some instruments have a special handle design with curved handles and finger indentations. If you feel that the handle of an instrument is not as comfortable as it should use pipe or tape insulation to make it so.

Invest in a pulley system for hanging baskets

If you feel that hanging baskets are too heavy to move, remember that you can always get a pulley system. This reduces weight by at least half and is quite convenient. You can lower the baskets when you need to water them or lean towards the plants there and then bring them back where they should be easily.

Adapt the watering can to your abilities

If you can’t lift heavily, perhaps standard irrigation can prove to be a bad decision. What you can use is a smaller can that is easier to lift and transport.

Warm up before starting work and take breaks

Treat gardening the same way you would go to the gym. To prepare your body, you will need to start easily, such as warming up before the actual workout. Another important thing is to give yourself regular breaks so you don’t get tired quickly after starting. Sit for a few minutes or stand up to stretch your legs if you’re working on the ground.

Succession gardening

If you are planting crops, you should try succession gardening. This means planting crops on staggered dates. This way they will ripen at different times, which means you won’t feel very overwhelmed.

All these practical tips can greatly help your gardening efforts. Remember to implement them and you will find that the job is not that difficult.
