A “hot” and staged August: from the free-to-air channels to the streaming platforms, the TV series of the hottest month of the year are ready to amaze, excite and entertain even those who have to wait a little longer for the long-awaited holidays. The range of proposals could not be more varied because it includes great classics and welcome returns, such as Cobra Kai (from 18 on Netflix) taken from the cult films The Karate Kid, and new entries with great expectations. Diego Luna, in fact, brings his Pan y Circo on Amazon Prime Video (from 7). And, always on the streaming service, it arrives one of the most revolutionary British titles of recent times, Misfits (from Ferragosto), who crosses the teen drama with the heroes of the comics, but choosing them among the most maladjusted in the area. IS for sports lovers on Apple TV comes Ted Lasso, comedy series by and with Jason Sudeikis on sport (from 14). What else?
1. The Head (Amazon Prime Video)
A scientific mission to the South Pole turns into a crime scene shrouded in mystery (from August 5 on Amazon Prime Video). The Polaris VI station is located in the ice in total isolation for six months a year, when the change of season takes place in the leadership of the team that deals with discovering the causes of global warming. Behind the camera we find Jorge Dorado de The red pier, who returns to team up with Alvaro Morte, or Professor de The paper house, here in the role of a chef from the past to say the least ambiguous. One by one the members of the group either die or disappear, without any clue. In short, a crescendo of suspense that is impossible to resist.
2. Lucifer 5 (Netflix)

While the series has already got renewal for the sixth season, the fifth arrives on Netflix on August 21 with even more thrilling intrigues (with eight of the sixteen total episodes). The King of Darkness, Lucifer, is still facing his personal demons trying to recover the relationship with his detective partner, Chloe Decker. Among them, the chemistry remains very strong, but the misunderstanding between the two – the result of secrets, lies and half-truths – grows dramatically, complicated by the arrival on the earth of the twin Michael. Not that it is the first time, however, that a member of his family intrudes into the dynamics of the Fallen Angel: the Mother had already thought about throwing the ambiguous protagonist played by Tom Ellis into disarray.
3. Crimes in Paradise 8 (Fox Crime)
A yellow set in the Caribbean with bright tones and funny characters: on 20th August Fox Crime returns Crimes in Paradise, with the episodes of season eight, ready to amaze with improbable crimes and irreproachable suspicions. During the various chapters, various inspectors from the United Kingdom have changed, each of whom has characterized the events with a good dose of hilarious situations. The team is about to greet one of the historical faces, Florence, played by the highly talented Josèphine Jobert who at the Monte-Carlo Festival described the series as “one of the unforgettable experiences of her career, a brilliant mix of feelings and investigation”. Even the commissioner’s domestic lizard manages to snatch more than one smile …
4. Ramy 2 (Starzplay and Rakuten TV)
Comedy is back Ramy – from August 6 on Starzplay and Rakuten TV – with an even more thrilling season two. Based on the life of comedian Ramy Youssef (winner of the Golden Globe for the starring role), he tells what it means to be a millennial Muslim of today. Tradition and modernity meet between exciting and fun moments. A very difficult balance to find, especially as a young Islamic of Israeli origin transplanted to America, precisely to New Jersey. In the new episodes we also find the Oscar Mahershala Ali while the protagonist, with a broken heart, falls in love with the imam’s daughter. As the story evolves, light also sheds light on the various members of his family. With an exceptional cameo, that of the ex pornstar Mia Khalifa.
5. Hudson & Rex (Rai Tre)
The new version of the European investigative cult is called Hudson & Rex and arrives on Rai Tre on August 13, with new adventures of the sweetest German shepherd policeman on TV. Next to him we find the Canadian John Reardon, in the role of detective Charlie Hudson, a man with a dream of joining the police since he was a child. These new adventures focus on a strange couple to say the least adorable, close-knit and surprising.
