Eat The Right Foods
While a lot of people spend hours and hours or hundreds of dollars on skincare treatments, the base of your skin and its quality really comes down to what you put into your body rather than onto your body. Knowing this, eating the right foods is going to help make a big difference in the quality of your skin.
According to MindBodyGreen.com, foods with antioxidants, color-rich foods, and organic foods are what’s going to be best for your skin. So if you haven’t been eating these things, or if you’re just not getting these types of foods into your normal diet, consider how you can change up what you’re eating to help make your skin appear healthier as well.
Be Gentle With Sensitive Areas
Clean skin is healthy skin. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to scrub and rub your skin in order for it to be clean. In fact, Diana Kelly, a contributor to Real Simple, shares that people who often have the best skin are sure to be careful with it, especially sensitive areas like the face. So while you may be able to use a rougher exfoliating brush on areas like your back or legs, the skin on your face should be treated with care. If you are going to use a more abrasive exfoliant, try only doing it once a week or so and making sure that you’re careful around the most sensitive areas of your face.
Don’t Use Hot Water
Almost everyone can agree that it feels great to soak in a nice hot tub or stand in a steamy shower after a long, stressful day. But while this might be good for your mental health, it’s not great for the health of your skin. According to Starre Vartan, a contributor to the Huffington Post, hot water on your skin can cause redness and irritation as well as be making it more dry and brittle.
Knowing this, it’s a good idea to use warm or room temperature water rather than hot water. At the very least, try to give your face at least one splash of cold water at the end of your bath or shower to help close up your pore and keep harmful debris from entering in as far during the day.
